Let's get real about our basketball program....

Stans left our program with nothing. In comes Coach Ray. Many were unhappy about his hire, but who really can expect someone to come in so late in the game and put a winning team on the floor? He is having a hard time just getting players, and to top it off, injuries have been unkind. We have to have extreme patience because I really cannot see us winning a single SEC game this season. That is not a knock on Coach Ray. We can begin knocking him 2-3 yrs from now IF he hasn't brought some quality players to our program. We just do not have any players off the bench right now and the ones on the floor are inept. Although that is hard to admit, it is the truth. We can play hard all day long but that does not translate to wins if the talent is not there.

We'll have Steele back for SEC games- the SEC is awful this season. We'll probably win 2-3 games this year in conference

Think most reasonable MSU fans understand WHY we are in the shape we are. However, knowing that still doesn't make this product any easier to watch

100% correct. We do need some more talent

Hopefully Coach Ray can get the guys he needs to be competitive again starting next year. I like some of the ball movement and other things I'm seeing, but we just don't have the skills necessary in the guys playing on the floor right now. I'm also 110% positive that Wendell Lewis would barely see any playing time at Belhaven. He's just that bad.

I like Jalen but he is not a difference maker, especially

coming off an injury like he has. We do not know how effective he can be. He absolutely can shoot it when well but can easily be shut down by simply guarding him. I hope you are right by saying we win 2 or 3 games. That will be a nice accomplishment with almost zero talent.

It would be more encouraging if we played D better, or shot FTs better. I agree in giving Ray a total pass with the lack of talent, but we should shoot FTs better. Sword seems to be a terrible shooter, and teams seem to get pretty easy shots against us.

He at least gets us some outside shooting which we desperately need. We haven't made one point today that wasn't a free throw or within 2 feet of the basket.

Better to watch this team actually hustling and trying than what we saw over the last several years...even if they're not naturally talented.

We have a turd.

I don't care who laid it or how it got here or how wonder it is that it smells different that our previous turd... it is still a turd.

Yeah, better than it has been.

Wendell is 4-4...that helps.

I know evryone on here seems to hate him, but he's probably our best player.

Don't get me wrong, I support Coach Ray 100% and think he can do the job once he cleans up Stansbury's mess.

That being said, watching us get our *** kicked by large margins even though we are hustling is in no way better than having a chance to win every game even though the effort just wasn't always there.
