...who's the next coach at KSU, when Bill hangs it up?

I'm saying, IF THEY COULD SWALLOW THEIR PRIDE OVER HOW HE LEFT THEM, it would be Brent Venables.

Do you care?

Have a thought?

I don't really care, but I've heard that he's been grooming his son Sean to take over. After the Ron Prince experiment failed, I'm guessing they might give Sean a chance.

My guess is Grandpa will pull one the "retire in mid-season due to health reasons" and turn it over to his son. That way son has a shot at the job. It never works out well, but I really believe that's what he will do. Seen it too many times the past few years.

Not a good job, probably not going to get much. Frost wouldn't leave Florida for Manhattan, would he?
No. He would be a fool to do so. He needs to take the Tom Herman route, stay at UCF and turn down bad Power 5 jobs (KSU, CU, Wazzu, Indiana, Illinois, Wake) until the right one comes.

KSU is a bad job. If they promote Snyder's kid I will laugh. It will fail no doubt.

Jim Leavitt wouldn't surprise me. He's the best they could do IMO.

Left field.. but i wouldn't be surprised to hear Mike Leach get a shot. Knows Big XII recruiting, proven coach, and would be a step up from WSU.

Their DL coach is the brother of a friend of mine (I don't keep real close contact with him anymore, I met him while deployed last year). They are lifelong KSU guys, but as the KSU DL coach, I think he had the distinct honor of being the lowest paid coach in the B12. He may not be that anymore. Anyway, he said the son was the odds on favorite as well and it looked to him like they were prepping him for the job.

Maybe Phil Bennett - he and Snyder seem to be close friends. Bennett is 60, but might want to take another shot at a head coaching gig.

Leach needs to get out of Wazzu, too good of a coach to be a program like that.

I think he's a great fit for KSU he would install a system, which is good for schools like KSU (and NU too) with recruiting challenges. If you're gonna run the Air Raid, there is no better coach to run it IMO. If he can recruit to Lubuck, he can recruit to Manhattan.

I would rather see him at a school like UCLA. Where he can assemble a staff that can recruit California easily.

Leach is not a fan recruiting. That's why I'm surprised he took the WSU job.

the best thing to come out of the 'woodshed' caper was craig james being dispatched from national tv...i guess he's made some other dumb comments, too.

I thought there was a chance he'd be up for thr Miami job. Can you imagine his offense with the talent down there (or in SoCal)? Frightening.

He can get Craig James to write him a letter of recommendation!:D
I met Craig James at a Fiesta Bowl block party the year we kicked the crap out of Florida. He and his wife seemed like really nice people and come to think of it I bet one of his kids in tow was the one that had the issues with Leach. He was very polite and actually approached my kids in their Husker gear and was very complimentary towards the Huskers. Leach on the other hand has shown many times that he can be a not very nice person. To continually bash James when we don't know him well based on media reports from people trying to get rid of him seems silly. Given the stink right now over concussions (the reason James had problems with the way Leach treated his son) maybe we should reconsider how that whole thing went down.

I agree. If he went somewhere with a lot of local talent, I think he would do very well!

I met Craig James once...did not have the same result that you did. But the biggest factor was that his kid appeared to be kind of a piece of work in the story iirc.....

Do y'all think the current and unknown situation in the BigXII would scare some candidates away?
I wouldn't take the KSU job if I had a Group of 5 head coaching job that's for sure. If/when the Big 12 dies, KSU will not get invited to a power conference. They will be in the Mountain West.

Agree with you on KSU to the Mt West once the Big 12 falls apart...

James used his job to serve as a voice for his personal concerns regarding his son condition. He should've known better...

Well they offered him a fair bit of money and about as low as expectations as exist in Power 5 football. He knows if he doesn't win he'll be fired, but he gets some nice pay and a decently out sight job for his time.
