Just like in basketball, quality wins aren't "point in time" unless there are key injuries/suspensions that is the cause for a team regressing.

Plus, we finished ranked 15th in 2010. I think that can buy Mullen a little time on the "no top 20/SECW team other than OM" argument folks try to make against him.

If we beat a top 5 ranked Bama team in week Eight, then they lose out and end the season unranked. Do you count that win as a win over a Top 5 team? I think you do.

Mullen wins the games we are supposed to, but he has yet to get that signature win over a Top 20 team. Let's hope he gets it done this year.
I really think we can win 3 games in the SEC West this year, now that would be a real improvement for our coach..

I might mention it as "we beat Florida and they were ranked #5 at the time" but that's just a way to make it sound better on a season's resume if they end up ranked lower or unranked. Make no mistake it's the season ending rank that counts. Trying to spin it any other way is idiotic. The final ranking is much more valid in judging a team's worth.
