It's not reviewable by Detroit. From my understanding, teams that try to challenge plays that they're not allowed to will result in said team getting penalized and the play standing.

In other words, the refs were going to review the play regardless since every touchdown is reviewable, so Schwartz dropping that flag cost them. Still... an odd rule, but it is what it is.

Very confused by this. They essentially punished Schwartz twice for throwing the challenge flag. That'll be fixed before next year.

What. Did Matt Millen show back up?

Still can't figure out why someone thought he might make a good commentator.

Can you throw the challenge flag if your team scores a TD on a questionable call to keep it from getting reviewed?

Same thing happened in another game a week or two ago. I think it was Atlanta.

That's a pretty good question.... i the only thing that happens is that same penalty then it would be worth to throw that flag every time in situations like that. The only thing is that I just don't know if there's something in play that prevents some coaches from taking advantage of that.

No

No. Then the team throwing the Challenge flag would be rewarded. The rule is you cannot be rewarded for an illegal challenge. That is why the ply stood. The Lions would have been rewarded on the review. (Since the runner was down, but the play was not blown dead.) Therefore, the play had to stand as called. It is an odd rule, but it keeps teams from using challenge's they do not have.
