Listening to Bo Bounds this morning, and I just can't help but think about how our expectations have changed. We are now being critiqued and analyzed in comparison to what it would take to win the SEC championship rather than going to a bowl game. My how far we have come in 4 years.

Bo is critiquing the team this morning, and making points about having no rhythm on offense, no "A" players on offense, and a general lack of complexity and creativity in our offense. The thing is, at this point, I actually agree with him, but can't help but realize that the only reason that there is anything negative to say about our team is because we are now being critiqued in regards to why we won't win a National Championship rather than why we won't win 8 games and go to a good bowl. Due to this, I have come to the realization that our fans will continue to complain about our team until the day we win the SEC title. Higher expectations don't stop bickering and complaining, it causes more picky bickering and complaining at a higher level; sure beats the heck out of complaining about why we haven't fired our OC when he had the worst offense in college football for 4 years.

This weekends game is huge!!! I cannot understate that

The offense is nothing flashy by any means but it's effective. We have alot of solid players but not any real trully great players. If that's a knock against them then so be it. They are solid enough to give us a chance to win almost any game. I guess we are supposed to be like West Virginia or something.

Couple of thoughts:

1. Critiquing is not complaining. I assume most of the people that are critiquing the team on message boards are enjoying the hell out of the games (with the exception of maybe Troy). If they haven't been, they may need to look for a different extracurricular than MSU sports.
2. Our offense is moving the ball and scoring with solid but mediocre receivers and a line that is somewhere between average and pretty good. We'll find out more about our line when we play some better teams and either open up the playbook, or don't in which case we'll know what we've been doing is what we can do. If we find out that playing Tobias Smith and opening up the playbook allows us to move the ball consistently against all teams not named Bama (and I guess LSU still belongs in this statement?), I'll be ecstatic. But even if we find out that what we've been doing is all they're capable of, it's nice to have a team that executes. We'll have to have talent and execute to get past Bama and LSU, but if we don't have the talent yet, I'm happy to have a team that does a reasonable job of reaching their potential on offense.
