made me want to drive to Croom's house and smash his head in with a baseball bat. I'm so glad Dan is here it's ridiculous. Hearing him talk about developing quarterbacks and giving them a system designed to their strengths while maintaining our tradition of good D was so refreshing. No "it'll be tough", "its gonna be a long process" ********...just go out and win mentality. Also, the fact that he continously advertises for State and especially things like the spring game. I really think Croom would have preferred just not to have a spring or practice for that matter.

the reaction.
Croom was a complete dumbass with no clue how to run a college football program. Yes, I too was on the Croom bandwagon, especialy after 2007, thought maybe we had actually begun to turn the corner.
With Mullen, he has come in and put more energy and enthuisiam into the program not seen since Jackie Sherill.
Mullen talks about continuing to play solid D, bringing in QB's and developing them based on their ability and what schemes they can run. Also talks very well about our fans and facilities instead of saying its going to be a long and steep upward climb.
Sure, its no going to be easy, but there is no reason for MSU not being able to put a consistent winning football program together. I dont mean consistent 10-11 win seasons, but 7-8 win seasons with the occasional 10 win season and actually competing every few years for Atlanta should not be a stretch.
With Mullen, I think we get it done, maybe not in 2009 but 2010 for sure.

he has a shot to be a really good leader for your team. He's obviously got the offensive resume to lure good recruits. O-line is going to be a problem for the next 2 years though (assuming he recruits well for O-line next year and the year after). And that's a big issue when it comes to wins and losses.

Having thoughts of committing murder over football or being dumb enough to put it on a message board? I don't know.

Dumb and dumber all wrapped up in one person.

People keep bashing the OL based on the Ole Miss debacle. 11 sacks in that game will do that.

However, if you look at the first 11 ballgames where we had a total of 26 sacks, you will see that we're not "as bad" as the perception has become.

I'm not ready to crown the OL the best in the SEC, or anywhere near the top. But, with the new offense where we don't have to hold defenders off the QB for 6-7 seconds while waiting for our "speedy" WR's to run 25 yards down field will make a dramatic difference.

14 of the 16 OL return from last year. In '10, 14 of this years 16 will return. Starting jr's and sr's will make a world of difference than starting fr and rfr.

is that Croom, every chance he got for five straight years, continually reminded us of how bad it was, how much there was to overcome, how negative the situation and so forth. Every damn chance he got. Even in year 5 he was blaming the "state" of the program.

Mullen has not made one negative comment that I'm aware of. All he's talking about is doing it.

the credit it deserves for being absolutely ridiculous. I think the Egg Bowl was the perfect storm of an extremely talented defensive line playing at its peak for the season going against a beat down, probably average, offensive line with nothing to play for.

Our offensive line is not great, that is for sure, but it definitely isn't the worst line we have had in the last 8 years. I look for Brignone and Sherrod to further develop and anchor this line - hopefully giving guys like Tobias Smith and other unknowns to come along slowly. They will not be great, but I also do not think they will be the swinging gate everyone is making them out to be.

His 17 excuses, just do what it takes to win and improve attitude is great.

Croom's attitude just had the players believing that we didnt belong on the same field with some teams

I think one of the biggest differences between Croom and Mullen is Croom was lazy and Mullen is wide open.

Big Dan is "coach speaking" to some degree but, he HAS to be positive! That's the difference I see in he and Croom at this point. I guess he got that down in the mouth talk from the BEAR, yeah right!

I'm not going to get too high too soon as some of my buddies predicting 8 to 9 wins. Hell, Steve Spurrier hasn't set the world on fire since he left Florida...key WORD Florida, as in talent, talent, talent!!! We don't have that kind of talent yet and yes our OL IS that bad! No cold water just reality. The OL situation is my biggest concern and the lack of a good OL can make a potential exposive offense very average. Don't forget we have some big shoes to fill on Defense also and I'm sure not sold on Torbush.

So, even taking the OM game out of the equation, that's a lot of sacks. Y'all may be right about the condition of your line over the next couple of years, I was just pointing out what I thought was the obvious.

The O-line was bad for us because we had a finess O-line trying to run a power type offense with play-action passing. Let alone no one on staff that had a clue about a passing game or how to teach it. Just another example of a poor job of putting players in a position to give them the best chance to win. Its like taking a mule to the derby, it just doesn't compute. This O-line may not be as good as others in the past, but I'll bet they are better then they were the past few years because this staff isn't going to ask them to do what they aren't able to do.

....on a message board again. That's not to single you out necessarily, because I find that far too many people such as yourself are out there consistently lacking the intelligence or the common sense to know how to comprehend people, what they're saying., and whether or not to take things literally.

It's a wonder the human race still exists.

I would not take it as murderous thoughts...it's a way of saying the new guy is so much brighter than the old guy that it sucks we lost so many years in a "Good Fella's" sort of way

We have real coaches now so our o-line should at the least be better coached. Bringing his o-line coach with him from Florida should give instant returns compared to the old staff.
