Might as well be an Ole Miss fan -- laying claim to games you lost on the field...

There's a reason "forfeits" no longer happen...

I hope we hear about this ALOT over the coming months... I had begun to feel sorry for that fanbase -- and need something to (re)arouse my interest...

You feel sorry for our fan base? Lol I can't say that I blame you. These last two years have been a nightmare, not to mention, our fan base does suck. I wish there were more die hards like myself.

I might as as well be an Ole Miss fan just because I count the forfeits? lol. Would you not count the forfeits, if it were the other way around? Lol

Again, I'm not trying to put down MSU. I just wanted to defend us Golden Eagles, which I do often. lol

I agree. USM's rivals have been Memphis, Tulane, Louisville, East Carolina...Sadly, those schools have passed us by & moved on to other conferences. We simply don't have the fan base or money to get us where we need to be. Even when we were in the midst of our 18 consecutive winning seasons & 10 straight bowls, we didn't advance to the next level.

It's not a rivalry, Bama is our real rival.**

Nothing to gain, but there is another side to the equasion....

we have to gain in playing JSU, Alcorn, La Tech, UAB, Troy, etc. etc. etc.?

That is, what do we have to lose. Alcorn and JSU have virtually no chance against us. La Tech, Troy, UAB has a chance but do not compete with us for MS recruits so an unlikely loss to one of them is not as impactful. None of these teams approach the game with anything near the motivation USM does.

Ozarka two years from now: "So I hooked up with a top heavy Chi Omega,

That's Ozarka's cue.

after three Irish car bombs we left for the parking lot of the Thirst Hippo, next thing I wake up in my ride and she is complaining of multiple entry/exit lube burns, I dropped her Chi *** off at Forest General then it was on to the next one"

Greg Byrne was obviously throwing our little sister a bone...It's gotten hilarious that USM is on the edge of dropping down to FCS especially with the rise of all the Sun Beast teams like ULaLa/ULM/USA..We are going to beat them by 50..in the first 17ing half..USM is absolute garbage athletically and will never be able to recover

disagree. We do compete with those schools for some players. Also, they (the players) have just as much motivation to beat us as USM. You don't think the coaches let the players of those teams know that they're facing an SEC team and the implications of winning?

This isn't the 70s/80s. Things have changed.

If we were playing thise game in 2005, I would agree with you. However, this is 2014/2015. We are going to smash them.

I sure don't go around bragging about our upset win over Alabama back in 1993. Even though the NCAA says we won that game, the truth is we lost 36-25.

You are the only two fanbases that beat the drum about games you lost on the field. Even Kentucky fans generally provide the asterisk when discussing their all-time record against us...

Yes -- I will die bitter about the 75-77 forfeits. The reasons were ********. The infractions were ********. And in alot of ways, those forfeits permanently changed the perception of MSU football for the worse. Those 38 games shift the entire reality of the history of our program significantly for the worse.

You're kidding right ...

Please. What is the "upside" to playing Memphis, Tulane, UAB, La. Tech, Middle Tennessee or any other Conference USA school?

So, home & home series with the beagles in their 36K stadium in Hattiesburg is the same as a home & home with Tulane in New Orleans & the Superdome. Think some on here would tend to disagree.

I will admit I am not thrilled about playing in Hattiesburg, and I at least wish we could have gotten a 2 for 1 deal or something...but I would prefer 2 for 1 deals with Memphis and Tulane as well. There are a few smaller schools that at least provide a decent road trip for the fans (I personally have no interest in New Orleans anymore), but that is hardly the point of this discussion.

I will freely admit that maybe I am too influenced by the past....

That's what losing like 7 or 8 straight to the buzzards will do for you. Not saying we should have won every one of those games but we dang sure should have won over half of 'em. I was several states away in the pre-internet days of the late 80s early 90s so I didn't get to experience the last couple of wins.

Good grief. Who really counts forfeits? Oh, yeah u of sm. One player who bought a suit at discount. That's what southern hangs it's fedora on. Yes, I know he's gone. I live in Laurel and probably know all 10-11 aforementioned fans.

It's really all about righting a wrong historically. I was hesitant about playing them when that schedule came out but Jesus are they Aweful now. No one saw that coming. I think this will be the kind of victory that knocks them out of D1 because we can't beat them down any further than they are now. They need a new bottom and I would love for State to be the one to hand it to them.

So to answer your question there is no logical upside to playing them. It's just something that has to be done. Hell I don't know how many tickets State have them but you know they will end up having to give most of them away.

that is a pretty nice looking ez. the only thing taking away from it is that it is detached, but overall, they did very well.
