Maybe he was actually hurt and did it out of frustration. Looked like a cheapshot though. Anyway, that explanation is alot better than the "Dillon had no choice but to stomp on two players sending both to the sidelines with one player not returning" explanation.

Disagree ...

He could have stopped. It was clear his momentum was done and could have stopped.

And goes against Newton's First Law of Motion ... Every object in a state of uniform motion tends to remain in that state of motion unless an external force is applied to it.

Anyone that is 6-4, 300 pounds does not stop quickly

Dillon Days incidents don't even approach what Sowell and Cox did. Those were

hits meant to end a guys career and were from behind after the whistle, dirty as hell. Dillon stepped on a guy for goodness sake this is a joke.

I have no problem with it. Could he had side stepped the pile a little?Perhaps. He may have hurt himself in the process. I didn't care for the late hit on the goal line.

Make him run an extra lap at practice. All will be forgiven. ;)

The refs did nothing.
The LSU players who were standing right there and saw it point blank did nothing.
The LSU bench/Les Miles did nothing.

That tells you everything you need to know. Ole Miss fans are getting pretty desperate because they know they're probably going to finish below us in the SEC standings for the 5th straight year.

Take a minute and let that statement sink in. Rebel fans are absolutely bat **** crazy to think that their program is somehow "above" ours. Go over to Nafoom and look a their spin machine already at work. They are scared to death that their fairy tail season is going to be overshadowed by ours.

Dillon tried to hurdle the players and avoid them. The LSU players rolled out trying to take out Day' ankle's and knees. While I am sure they were tird of getting pushed around all day, you can't prove intent so I don't favor suspending the LSU players. I am just glad Day is ok.

He either steps on our player or jump over him and land on the LSU guy. He didn't jump far enough. The only problem - which I don't really see as a problem - is he didn't check on the LSU guy after landing on him. Both times - he avoided one State and one LSU player and landed on another LSU player.

The problem I have is with the editing on this video. They clearly slow the action down prior to jumping over the pile (to make it look like he could have stopped); then they go back to full speed right before he lands (to make it look like he "stomped" the landing as hard as he could). Go back and watch the play at full speed and it's clear there's no intent.

Furthermore, on the second incident, he tried to avoid landing on the LSU player and almost blew his own knee out on the play.

Someone with better video skills than me needs to post a response video showing how doctored the video is vs what actually happened.

Some people need to watch a game tape! Look away from the ball...

and you'll see a lot of such stuff happening on almost every play... by players on both teams.

Some might not be able to ever watch another football game.

With that stated, if DD did it on purpose (and only he knows) then I'd be in favor of some discipline.

Big difference ...

Looked like a cheapshot though. Anyway, that explanation is alot better than the "Dillon had no choice but to stomp on two players sending both to the sidelines with one player not returning" explanation.

In watching the slow motion clip and watching in 'real time.' In real time, you can tell that his momentum (300 pounds) is going forward in both and he isn't going to clear both players.

In slow motion, it looks like he is 'picking a place' to land and it looks more intentional. Unfortunately, the game is actually played in 'real time' and not slo mo.

I never post, but can't let this go by. My son was a starting guard for a AAAAA high school in TN. Going full speed, wearing knee braces, he tried to leap over a defensive player instead of stepping on him. He completely tore ever single ligament in his foot. The doctor was able to bend his foot to touch his toes to the back of his leg. I still have nightmares. The question was not if he would play again, but if he would be able to walk without a walker (after 5 hours of surgery). Twits (i.e. Rebel 7) who have not idea how hard it is for a 300 lb lineman to leap in those braces while going full speed while trying to avoid someone without getting hurt and ending their career would be better served by spending their time sticking their fingers up their butt instead of typing. Now back to my rightful place in the background.

I'd pay five bucks for someone to splice in the gut-spilling scene from...

Empire Strikes Back right after Dillon's foot comes down on the belly.

For the squeamish of you, yes, I understand the player was hurt. I'm sorry he was hurt. It would still be funny given the undeserved hype.

It's so funny that he was 5 minutes behind DS posting a response to the OP, and is now after being called out, is nowhere to be found.

Excellent first post.

Another thing no one has mentioned, and this could be a "Physics of Football" segment, is how intentionally landing on with the middle and heel of his foot lessened the impact. Football cleats have several spikes up front and if he landed on the guy spike first, it would have put an extraordinary amount of pressure (300 pounds in an area less than a square centimeter) on that guy's belly. Dillon may have done that guy a favor when he landed the way he did and distributed that force over a much wider area. Sure, there are spikes on the back of the cleats, but more of them are going to make contact.

After watching this again

I was looking for that last night. Shackelford should be suspended. Dirty!!! And the fact he acted like he was hurt was the worst part about it.

OM fans should probably just shut up. Sowell aside, and everyone knows what kind of play LSU subscribes to. It's like a playground bully that gets popped in the mouth the first time. Better start thinking of how something is against the rules.

OM talk is really fear. But fear not, because that DD freight train is due at your front door in November. Just wait your turn.
