It feels good to two types of fans.
The baseball fan who sees it through a nostalgic lens.
Women and homosexuals who like its feminine look and feel.
It's particularly noticeable on score bugs/summaries and any list and ranking type things with multiple schools. Might be my brain still looking for Mstate but I have completely missed us often. Squint hard enough and you can see it. As you note, bold and square just fits better in those applications.
I've always thought the way they stylized clunky "Mississippi State" and paired it with the square Mstate was well done for various applications depending on the space available. Seems we've moved on to &tate and I'll survive.

Selmon is talking about the university itself, not the athletic department. The BannerM is the exclusive logo for all things not related to sports.

Honestly, this debate is so fruitless. The administration likes the BannerM and Selmon like the Script State. People bitched about the BannerM for so long, and we finally got rid of it for sports and people are still bitching. Really the only debate we should be having logo-wise is whether we have a football-only logo, like other universities (cough*LSU*cough) or to stick with the athletic logo on helmets.

Nope. He definitely said MState is staying and &Tate is something being used now for athletics but was still a secondary logo for branding.
