BS to that...

the "situation" was firmly and very adequately in hand until the big bad hand of politics entered the equation. Stans had to go but we could have done better.....much better with his replacement. That is a fact, and my guess is that you know it.

So Nike was gonna buyout the last 3 years of the Adidas deal??

Looking forward to this reply

already begun putting his staff together which was going to be impressive. He thought he had the job. In a matter of a few hours our AD changed his mind. That is when it gets interesting. The why is of that reaks of politics. The other guy received a call from Mark Keenum informing him that Scott had decided to go a different direction. It was handled poorly and the final decision was a killer for MSU basketball. I think it was time for Stans to leave, and I believe we had a very long time to find somone. It is simple. Scott Strickland blew it in the interest of Adidas and some key people connected with Adidas....time for me to shut up.

While I'm not commenting on this particular situation, It's all about the game of "Follow the Money." Nike, Under Armour, and Adidas aren't throwing out money just to make sure college teams look good in their uniforms.

How in the world can you say Kenny Payne would be much better than Ray? KP was the 3rd best assistant on the Kentucky staff that Kentucky people said did not do any coaching at all. Ray has been a legitimate assistant at different places and was an associate head coach at an ACC school. People clamor over KP for his connections to WWW and Nike. If you really believe that recruiting is the only thing that matters in college basketball, you haven't been following State under Stansbury.

And to go ahead and doom Ray because he wasn't who you wanted is retarded. And to bash him for us having a bad year this year would show the lack of knowledge you have. The players we have is not Ray's fault. He was basically dealt 2 cards in a game of 5 card stud. Give him time. He may turn out to be terrible, and then you can bash him and Stricklin. However, bashing them now is premature.

Please. The lack of any kind of support from Stans has been obvious. And it's no coincidence that a lot of Stans's old supporters are doing everything they can to make Ray's job tougher instead of trying to support him.

Did Loafers do anything to limit or ban Bury's access to the program after this went down, or was he too busy with hash tags?

Wasn't much Strick could have done I don't think. He has no way of limiting outside calls to Stansbury or Stansbury and his booster buddies whining on the phone together.

What's he supposed to do, ground him to his room? Take his phone and car keys away from him? If I were Scott, I'd have told him to take the 2 years left for his pension and shove it up his ***, but apparently knowing where the bodies are buried prevents that.

Yep- you won't be seeing Dawggeezer getting on here bragging about all the help and support he gives the program anymore...wonder why? We are still playing basketball at Mississippi State.

Actually, we did see him get on here and brag about how much support was going to be taken away from the program by him and other Stans supporters. I couldn't believe it. I mean, I liked Stans a lot and I supported him right up to the end, even after I realized that it was time for him to go. But these guys put Stans ahead of Mississippi State. I lost a good deal of respect for Stans by the way he and his supporters have handled this.

Given that we know Stricklin himself pulled the plug on 2 candidates, he still gets all the blame. Heck, the Prohm debacle alone puts that coaching search up in the annals of the worst-conducted in State history. And if Ray does win (which I hope he does), I'll always wonder if he could've done even better had we not put him behind the 8-ball by taking so long.
Meanwhile, if the rumors are true about Stansbury (and to date I've seen/heard nothing outside this board), maybe Ray can use it as a selling point with Malik. Signing Horatio's kid should be written into his contract as an incentive.

Loafers? WTF? Do you really think that's some kind of clever condescending nickname? Trust me, it's not. You people are pathetic.

I wonder how much Lewis's foul trouble had to do with that? You can play with a 7-man rotation, but when one of them fouls out in 16 minutes with 3 points you pretty much have to play that 8th player some. I hope Ray would not have put him out there if he had 7 other players he could play.
