It really is night and day.

Big MSU gets

Chris Jones - Hasn't wavered on MSU (yet), recently decided to stop talking to media.

Ashton Shumpert - Waits until the end of the season, commits through texts.

Corey Smith - Quiet pickup from EMCC.

Jake Thomas - No drama pickup of this Olineman.

Deon Mix - commits while on campus visit.

Big ole miss gets

Kimdeechy (presumed) - Tricks Clemson into signing half of his high school, constantly yaps to media, parents involved in controversy.

Kailo Moore (presumed) - Has flipped twice, big announcement ceremony planned.

Lavon Hooks - Announces commitment incoming. Delay, get more attention, delay, get more attention, delay.

Jeremy Liggins - Big announcement ceremony for LSU in the grooove, now on way to ole miss.

Jarran Reed - Another flipper (UNC)

I'm not saying one way is better than the other - but it's astounding the different types of players each school seems to attract. If a player is a talker, is flashy, and loves attention, you bet your *** he's going to end up at ole miss. I think I only know of 1 hat ceremony that MSU won in the past several years, and it was far from a big deal.

Also, assuming ole miss gets Moore and RK, where does that put them in recruiting rankings, 8-10? Best combined MSU/om recruiting classes ever?

You make

a great point. This is the type of player that seems to have burned Mississippi in the past few years, too.

I know I'm going to get jumped by the hypocritical nafoomers by saying this, but honestly I'd rather get kids that seem like they have a head on their shoulder. The one's that pull all this BS and act like idiots, seem to crash and burn often.

It does help State and Ole Miss when SEC wins. This post is why.

Combined best recruiting classes ever. This would not happen if we were in the Sun Belt.

I've always thought we gotten the joe lunchpale type kids. The humble type who embrace hard work and are proud of it.
OM gets many of the same, but also mixes in a lot of attention whores. It's the nature of their persona. Birds of a feather...

Same can be said for Auburn/Alabama players. And the question earlier was would I rather swap with Auburn, 17 NO!

Whitehead, Dyer, Cam, that kid with the tattoo. Auburn last 3 classes 6th, 2nd, 8th. Awful this year

One way is better than the other, all things else being equal. If a high school student is getting his *** kissed constantly and doesn't let it go to his head, there's a hell of a good chance he's not going to be sidetracked by other issues.

But all else is usually not equal and even it it is, there are plenty of instances where a waiver or wanting the most attention possible for a hat ceremony is not indicative of a character issue. It's just a nice bonus when an 18 year old kid doesn't let it go to his head.

Ehh, you need a little of both.....

You need somebody like a Boobie Dixon or C.J. Johnson to create 'swag' or whatever they call it, be a vocal leader in other words. But even those guys didn't go for a big hat ceremony or flashy crap. But Ole Miss does seem to attract that type more than the others, namely Singleton/Brassell/those types. So there's definitely something to what you say. Moncrief didn't make many waves and he's their best player. Guess it's the difference in the 'I' stuff rather than 'team'. Conner has been pretty quiet in his recruitment as well.

Truly salt of the earth people...

http://hailstatebeat.wordpress.com/...ullen-and-mississippi-state-on-egg-bowl-week/

Keep in mind, this article praising smack talk is from your school's official site. Didn't Corey Broomfield have to eat a big fat smack sandwich after the Gator Bowl. Didn't he run his mouth in the press? Hasn't your school taken an attention ***** approach to marketing under your new peeps...hashtags, flashing uniforms, face paint, brash talk, etc?

Am I wrong in suggesting that many good posters here have suggested that its time for your team to get back to basics and quit the ********?

I realize that this post is to make you feel better about your situation, but look at things objectively.

Don't forget about Cox

It really is night and day.

Big MSU gets

Big ole miss gets
Cox waited until the spirits at MSU were a little limp, as it were. Then he popped the big announcement for a short reprieve.

As far as strategery, I for the life of me cannot figure out the KM announcement timing. If you're trying to piss off the State homers, then the announcement had to happen before they got the commit from Shumpert. I mean, KM was the only running back State had (and lost). Now State is looking to upgrade other positions. But if they're looking to impress the base, it has to be after he's taken some visits. No drama whatsoever at the moment. Will any media show up besides the TSUN paparazzi: Speck and Talty and the local media he leaked his decommitment to? What are they going to fall back on when these other "elites" shun Freeze at the TSUN altar?

Ole Miss players smack "I, I, I, I"
MSU smack "We, We, We, We"

You're reaching big time.

First, Broomfield said that NW's RB would be an average RB in the SEC. That's a compliment in my book.

Most importantly, my post references ole miss recruits being attention whoring prima donnas, not pregame rival smack talking. Nowhere close to the same thing.

I think RK is going to wait until he's the only headline

That's when he'll strike - when he's the only story, and gets the maximum exposure.

Demanding attention and being attention whores can be two totally different things. Don't even bring up brash talk, it's a rivalry, you guys did plenty of it in the previous decade and again now.

A tale of two Sixpacks.

If a player is a talker, is flashy, and loves attention, you bet your *** he's going to end up at ole miss.

Monday: We should totally hire Smoot. He'll be an awesome recruiter. Recruits will love his "swagger" and his Bentley.

Tuesday: Our recruits are humble, they don't run their mouths, they're not flashy, and they don't seek attention.

1. Is the article praising smack talk? "Maybe, he sees a team steadily improving and doesn’t want to stoke the fire."
2.Why is it relevant?
3. Did Broomfield have to eat crow? He said the guy wasn't fast. Broom wasn't the reason we lost the Gator Bowl.
4. Thanks for defining our marketing approach. I almost forgot that we spend money on other things besides recruits and former coaches.**
5. Marketing BS = rushing the field at the Egg Bowl, Rebelz (Feed Moncrief) video; Black Bears/Rebels/Tommys - I mean Toddys, and wall paintings from the TSUN athletic department...

I'd love to have a flashy recruiter

Again, not the same thing as having flashy recruits.

Hey, asshat klucker, first we don't need your f'n psychiatric evaluation of the board. Second, not everybody on here (1) wants smoot anywhere near this program; or (2) thinks our f'n AD has demonstrated much more than fluff and **** without a lot of substance so far.

So you can take your board evaluation and shove it up your ***.

I know Smoot only played for State for two years, but I didn't think he had any eligibility left.** But if he did, he'd probably end up at TSUN.*** (Does TSUN recruit defensive players?)

I agree with the premise of your post but make no mistake....

We offered and wanted K. Moore.
We would take Keemdiche in a heart beat.
We offered and wanted Hooks.
We offered Liggins and wanted him till the end.

While they do have a lot of negative in common, something else they have in common is that they were guys we wanted and didn't get. I can buy into some of the spin but it doesn't necessarily mean these guys will be worse than the guys we signed.

I wouldn't start counting chickens, Bears

RK, Conner, etc are still very much in play by Bammer, and you'd be nuts to think otherwise. Besides RKs brother being there, the only thing keeping these guys from wearing crimson next year, is they know they could all start for y'all next year, while they would have to work their way up a long line of 4 & 5 star recruits at Bama. Still, the guys with ego's always seem to think they they'll beat out everybody else, so I wouldn't be surprised to see that whole gang of 5 stars commit to satan right there on ESPN signing day.

He thinks its an example of Ole Miss and Egg Bowl smack, but that obviously didn't come from the school. It looks like a 6th grade collage.

Bonedaddy - Not my signature. A copy and paste from the TSUN athletic department. The real thing can be yours for $49.95 (while supplies last)!

TSUNBearHunter - your stupidity makes me laugh. Keep up the good work!**

Of course we wanted them. It's not about that

It's about which players want us. We'll take any of them in a heartbeat, as would ole miss, but the attention seeking type seem only to land at ole miss.
