He knew this was going down today when he mentioned McGregor right before he came on air. You may never see a towell waving again unless it is in the SWAC.
I've been reading your board for the past few days and saw this thread. I have no personal knowledge but I do have a hunch about the story that will be released later tonight or tomorrow.
What if ESPN reports that "sources" say Cecil Newton solicited sums from one or two other SEC schools? This will cast more doubt on Auburn's story that they were not solicited. I think it's fair to assume that Auburn hasn't reported a solicitation and that would be an institution violation if there is other evidence that Newton did seek money from Auburn.

While unsubstantiated... this would help MSU look a lot better, and the SEC a lot worse. It would be nice if we could deflect some of what is coming at us right now. It would be nice for someone to start piecing it together on where the money trail is at AuBarn and not if he solicited at state.

As entertaining as the FBI tapes tales are, I'd need to be shown that they really exist before I'd consider that one of this meal's courses-- a bit too fantastic for me at the moment (but highly entertaining nevertheless).
validation in the form of recordings of, messages from, folks that tie Cecil to these allegations. So far he has not been tied with physical evidence to Auburn. Bell's statements were damning provided he can recover the messages from a phone at the bottom of the sea or from his provider. But they did not say Cecil they just confirm the actions that have already been made.
