Outside of South Carolina they are probably the worst offense we will have seen in conference play. They don’t shoot the 3 well and they turn the ball over a lot. Where they have success is getting offensive boards and getting to the FT line. Their strength is on defense, though, Top 20 in KenPom’s defensive ratings.

They have a 6-11 big man (Newell) who is their key cog. Will occasionally step out and try some 3’s though only a 25% shooter from 3. He has lived in the 15-20 point range almost all year, just seems like someone with a high floor when it comes to scoring.

They do have a couple of guards shooting over 36% from 3, and yes they also have a white guy named Blue Cain that has RAT written all over him (he’s like their 5th leading scorer). He nearly had a triple double against LSU last night so he’s in fine form as we come to town.

They have one home loss all year and it was a very close game against Auburn. Otherwise they’ve been rather excellent in that building, including double digit wins against Kentucky and Oklahoma.

We are likely to be 3 to 4 point underdog in this when the betting lines come out. In terms of style play I don’t think it’s a bad matchup for us. The fear would be a game like Tennessee where we can’t make a shot to save our lives for a half. I’m expecting a rock fight regardless of winner.

Feels like a very important game for our season, especially coming off a bye week and the beatdown that was the Mizzou game.

Its a good matchup for us. Only thing bad about the matchup is the location. But location matters a lot in this sport.

Both teams are similar talent wise. Both teams have struggled against good competition. Another game that will separate the middle of the conference

If they don’t shoot the 3 ball well they will shoot lights out against us

i'm worried that there is an outside chance that we don't even make the tournament. our net is down to 30 and a 7 seed per Lunardi. couple that with the way we've been playing it wouldn't surprise me if we don't win again until LSU comes to town on March 1st (8 straight losses) and we are squarely on the bubble needing some help come selection sunday. i'm interested to see with what level of urgency the team plays with saturday.

A great regular season is out the window. Already squandered too many chances for that. But this game will go a long way towards having a good season vs a bad one. Need it.

Chris Jans states the obvious.
"We're in position where we've got to win basketball games, regardless of who we're playing or where we're playing," Jans said today. "And it starts Saturday."
I think we'll see a very focused and motivated team Saturday and we'll get a win. If not, it could be a long month or so.

This is what scares me. It’s easy to see this team plummeting. Teams across the league are starting to put it together as we seem to be losing it. Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma…they are all playing better now. Georgia at Home is going to be tough

It will be their 3rd best guard that rarely starts that will torch us. Cain will have 30+ points in wide open shots, he is 6 foot 5 so he will have super clean looks over Hubbard.

We haven’t won a critical game in Athens since Stansbury was our coach. And he started the trend of head scratching losses on their court when we had to have them.

I don’t like our chances, as much as I’d love to be wrong.

My son and I will be there. We will win. I'll bring my uniform.

Howland had some success in Athens. Most notably won the game where one of their students threw a teddy bear at Q Weatherspoon when he was at the free throw line with like a second left trying to win if for us.

We were there, not too far from that student. Should I bring some stuffed animals to hand out?

That GA team was also 2-16 in the league and it took that technical for us to win by 1, in Howland’s only NCAA tournament season here. We just have a really hard time there when we absolutely have to have the win. And we’re about even this year, so I’m not expecting much.

I’m not saying we never win in Athens. That program is a roller coaster even more than we are. Most years, we’re just better than them.

Georgia has basically affirmed they don't care about basketball. But lately this season Georgia has been much better than average at home

We did kinda lay an egg in Athens two years ago. Very early in the season. We had the better team, just played poorly on the road. Lost an ugly game where both teams scored in the 50’s.

One big thing I’ve noticed about us this year is we seem to be VERY prone to letdown games but we have played pretty well in these games that have our full attention (even in the UK and Bama losses, we didn’t win but I thought we played reasonably well). I expect this game to have our full attention and therefore I’ll be disappointed if we don’t have a good showing.

I hope they have improved their concessions. They were the absolute worst setup when we were there last.

1 star. Would nor recommend

Gonna be a tough nut to crack. However, considering the rest of our schedule, it may be one of our better chances. I just don't see 5 more wins that we need to finish .500 in the SEC. I'm thinking we probably win 3 more and maybe steal one in the SEC tourney.

I think most teams in the league are like that this year.

Historically, we have not played well at Georgia. I may let the tornado-influenced SEC tournament affect my judgment, but I don't remember any good trips to Athens. Our boys and girls had trouble playing Georgia at their home.

To be fair, most of the last 15 years we’ve barely played decent in Starkville much less anywhere else. It’ll be a tough game because it’s a road game vs a decent team.
