especially after they beat Notre Dame last year. They are off this week so they get 2 weeks to prepare.

They beat Holy Cross by 2 to open the season (19-17). Holy Cross lost to New Hamphsire 19-16 this past weekend.

Lost to Maryland 20-9 this past weekend. Maryland was predicted to be a 4-8 type team. Maryland beat Fla Atlantic 38-7 to open the season.

NIU doesn't have the same QB who beat the Fighting Irish. They are down from that year, but still have a lot of B10 transfers playing for them. I have us beating them 10 pts to 2 TDs. I also remember our trip back in the day to College Park, MD under Emory Bellard didn't end too well either. Not an easy place to win. I think the first half will likely be fairly close, then we pull away due to our better depth as a SEC team. We'll sort of wear them down so to speak.

I haven't seen them but a quick look at their lines shows they are full of 300lbers on the offensive line and 3 guys on the d line just at or over 290 lbs. Hope we figure how to run block a little better and stop the run a little better.

HAVE to get the running game going. Had I think 76 total rushing yards v ASU. That will bite us in the *** sooner or later. But, I think ASU’s defensive line was full of veteran dudes, so hopefully that were a particularly though bunch to run against.

I can't explain how excited I am at the potential of a letdown/look ahead game after a big win/huge game upcoming. We haven't had this worry in what feels like forever.

I'm actually glad we have Alcorn because I feel any other opponent we'd have no idea how to handle a big win

My assumption is that last year's NIU team was one of those senior-laden MAC teams that's capable of rising up and wrecking shop in any given week just on collective experience.

That may or may not be actually true, but that's my assumption.

I think they only have about 6 starters back. And they weren't that good last year to begin with. A 4-4 MAC team? Come on? The Notre Dame game was a fluke. We'll win this game easily.

These next 2 games will be used like practices. We will work on the O line, running game and rest our injured. Get some back ups out there for extra experience. All to get ready for the SEC schedule. If either team has success it's because we have our 3rd string in. This team has a lot to work on. I know we are all giddy about the win but in reality we are very lucky to get that. Offense was not good. A few big plays basically. D was nice in the first half but was getting prison raped in the second until they made that stand. Hopefully by the Tennessee game some problems will get addressed

We still have A LOT to work on offensively! And now we have to find a defensive line that doesn't look like our flag girls getting pushed 5 yards downfield on run plays!

Losing Whitson sure didn't help any in that dept. Who do yall have stepping up and filling his spot?

A lot of issues got addressed between USM and ASU. I feel confident that the coaching staff isn’t sitting around feeling like we’re world beaters. We will get more stuff cleaned up over the next two weeks.

UT will be a heck of a challenge. Hopefully it’s a night game and our fans show up like they did against ASU.

I watched the entire Maryland - NIU game. Maryland will struggle to win more than 1-2 Big Ten games. NIU is just bad. NIU's talent level will be similar to USM. I will be disappointed if we don't win by more than 14.
