There are only 5 seniors listed- Gabe, Dylan Holley (backup center), Siddoway, Perkins, Autry, and Nikoe. Looking to next year, we get Jay Hughes and Justin Malone back after missing all of this year.

1. Will Malone slide out to RT and Beckwith stay at RG? Malone seems to have the body for tackle- 6'7" 320 lbs. I guess one of them could slide over to Gabe's old spot, and we break in a new RT.

2. Will Jay Hughes take over the FS spot with Market playing well at SS?

3. Will we ever see any production out of Nick James/Quay Evans? Nick didn't play a down this year, and Quay had 3 tackles in 5 games.

I think we will start a JUCO at RT next year. Wouldn't be shocked to see Malone slide over to LG. There are alot of options at G. We'll be fine there, but no one will replace Gabe (obviously), but still depth at the position.

Don't forget Dee Arrington at S too. He played pretty well in limited action before getting hurt.

On point

three, I just don't ever see them contributing. This is a damn shame bc if they lived up to their hype, our DL (w CJ) could be really dirty. What a waste.

I can't speak for Quay, but Nick was ineligible for this year. It looks like he's getting himself ready and it's promising.

Was his ineligibility ever made public? I remember reading rumors on here, but not anything concrete.

Idk, and looking back I probably shouldn't have said anything. I actually thought it was. All I know is that he's back and looks to be working pretty hard so I'm glad to see that for him.

Wasn't it

rumoured that he was ineligible bc of grades? If true, it just fits the narrative that he and Quay aren't mentally capable to succeed.

Jamaal Clayborn played some this year and looked good. He should get a look at one of the OL spots.

can you picture a DL with

Quay and Nick James inside. Preston comes back and plays one end/Chris Jones at the other. Ryan brown/AJ Jefferson rotating in. Mckinney/Richie at LB's with Benequez mixing in too. Calhoun/Love/Redmond/Cox at corners. Market at SS, and either Cox/hughes/Arrington/Antione at FS.

I heard he got into a fight this summer and someone gave him a ton of legal

grief which resulted in him not taking care of his academics this summer. I have heard he is really doing well and may finally have grown up. Quay, I'm not so sure about, he just needs to grow up and take his opportunity seriously and quit blaming others and take responsibility for his actions.

You're delusional, haven't you heard the Bear party lines that we suck and will

always suck and we are always optimistic, especially after they shat the bed on us. We never really beat them you know, they just give it away.

I think we gonna be pretty good next year myself.

Agreed.

LT - Clausell
LG - Malone
C - Day
RG - Clayborn
RT - JUCO OT

Beckwith played well too IMO all things considered. MSU should never have an issue with OG or C. There are enough 6'2-6'5 315 lb kids in this state/Bama/GA to give us SEC quality depth on the interior OL.

OT is a little different though.

I don't really think that's a fair statement to make. I'm a Computer Science Engineer and I'll be the first one to tell you that grades aren't a good barometer for someone's mental capacity.

It's not so

much that he can't get an A or B or C in some arbitrarily graded system, it's the fact that he doesn't seem to have the discipline to complete easy tasks that are required of him. It's pretty simple.

Got to give him some credit if he did F'up then realized the mistake and got himself together to become eligible for next year.

However that is all yet to be seen I guess.

Things are rarely that simple. I'm not going to make this into a discussion about how poor our educational system is as a nation but sometimes blaming someones ineptitude purely on motivation isn't really looking at the whole picture. Don't take this as me saying that there is no fault on his part. He'll even admit as much where he messed up at. To me, it's more important if someone shows the ability to learn from their mistakes instead of focusing on where they made them. And when you look at him and other athletes that may have fed into what other dreams people were selling them or giving them reasons not to push themselves, I can't say it's solely their fault. But again, if they are able to bounce from that then more power to them.

That's

the thing. He's been given opportunity after opportunity after opportunity to right the ship. Yet, he continues to show zero discipline. Whether its in the classroom or on the practice field. His failure to succeed, at this point, falls squarely on him. No one else. This cannot be argued.

Unless one of these JUCO OL is a superstud, I want to see either Flowers or Thomas getting meaningful reps at RT.

Deontae skinner is a senior too. Although we've rotated enough LBs that losing one shouldn't hurt too much. Beni Brown should step right in with no drop off.

I'm not necessarily arguing what is or isn't his fault. I'm saying that he still has time and is currently showing improvement. I'm not going to sit here and speak as if I hang with him and know the exact extent of the progress that he's made, but I have seen and heard of him making progress none the less. Besides, I tend to be more concerned with people learning over time. As long as they're showing signs that they're learning, I won't hold their faults over their heads or say anything that implies giving up on them. At this time being, I can't say I have any reason to think that he deserves to be thrown to the side.
