Matt was so far up Cals *** for so long kind of shows you loyalty isn’t a 2 way street with cal. If I was MJ I’d not cut any breaks for cal from now on and I’d start by criticizing his coaching bc he apparently doesn’t coach offense. And I don’t even like MJ

It's pretty funny how butt-hurt Cal is at Matt, when Matt has supported Cal since he got here.

Has Matt questioned Calipari's offense, and some questionable late game coaching? Of course. That's his job. But Matt has always been quick to say that he doesn't want anyone else to coach here.

Then you've got Cal running around saying to block out the noise, and all of this BS, and has now black-balled a media member for having the audacity to question him. If this were Rick Pitino at UofL, you all would be blasting him.

Sounds to me like Cal is being petty, which is a shame, in my opinion. Criticism comes with the territory and Calipari should know that. Just get over yourself, that would be my advice. Matt Jones has a connection with the fanbase that Calipari doesn't have, and at the very least he could use that connection to foster some good will. That's my 2 cents. Take one for the team.

Cal will go on Louisville based talk radio and reach 10% of the fanbase.

I could be wrong but I thought JMI or whoever has the media rights controls who he does interviews with. He once said Stoops wasn’t supposed to call his show but just does it anyway. Now I’m sure Cal could do the same thing but I do think there is a contract in place about this. They said one day even Levis has to run his interviews through Susan Lax or JMI gives UK hell.

This is going on 2 years now. It's not getting rectified.
About to say. And Matt HAS worked behind the scenes to talk to Cal. Cal won’t do it.

Has much as he’s tried to win back the fan base this would’ve been a huge step.

As good as he is at PR at times,, he has huge lapses in judgement about appearance (the lion and lamb comments, bennies comments, this crap).

Shame. Thought Cal was startling to “get it”. Guess not.

It’s hard to argue with this. For a coach who talks so much about facing adversity and the like, it’s a bad look to to completely blackball the states biggest sports radio show because of some past criticisms (warranted or not).

Show people you can take fair criticisms and face adversity head on, not just tell others how to do it. Would be a great look if he went back on the show and teamed up with KSR to do something else charitable for the state of KY. Cal is incredible at that and those two platforms together could do some really cool stuff for people in need.

It isn’t about Matt Jones being respected. Anyone who can stand to be around that embarrassing, childish, yes-man Lemond is automatically out of the “respect” conversation.

Him not going on their show shows Cal actually cares about something they say on that show. Of course they need him FAR more than Cal ever needs a little sports radio show, but he could find a way to be on their program, prove he doesn’t care about the opinions of those fools and come out on top. Guarantee you that. Just the wrong way to go about it.

I actually have that on my wall in my practice room. Because it’s damn true. Just wish he’d live by it now.

I love this. Couldn't happen to a bigger clown show than KSR.

Cal has a ton to prove but not gonna ***** about him on this topic.
Love both Cal and the KSR show, but Cal is in the wrong here. Matt and the crew weren’t even that critical. They just called it like it was, always prefacing that Cal is still the best coach for this job. Pretty thin skinned moved on Cal’s part.
