@MattJonesKSR Why would you put in a request to talk to that slime ball? I’ll still live & die with KENTUCKY but 9-16 and St. Peter’s is simply unforgivable. I’ll pray for Osama’s soul before I forgive the travesties over the last 800+ days.
so say Cal does win a second title this season? Still not gonna forgive the second best coach at UK?

there’s no gain for cal or our team to go on MJ show at this point. It would be nice as a fan but cal has a shot at redemption a big time chance this season. I would rather see how it plays out and hope cal can redeem himself and bring us number 9. Honestly the less we hear from cal the better. We know what he will say and how he will say it. This is the shut up and put up season.

Matt was so far up Cals *** for so long kind of shows you loyalty isn’t a 2 way street with cal. If I was MJ I’d not cut any breaks for cal from now on and I’d start by criticizing his coaching bc he apparently doesn’t coach offense. And I don’t even like MJ

About to say. And Matt HAS worked behind the scenes to talk to Cal. Cal won’t do it.

Has much as he’s tried to win back the fan base this would’ve been a huge step.

As good as he is at PR at times,, he has huge lapses in judgement about appearance (the lion and lamb comments, bennies comments, this crap).

Shame. Thought Cal was startling to “get it”. Guess not.
You are making this determination with one side of the story. That s pretty narrow minded of you. See how that works? This is why matt put it out there. He onow Cal wnt try to defend this as he shouldnt.

Cal either owns that he deserved the criticism he's gotten, and there's a lot he deserved, or he's NOT grown or learned from his past mistakes.

I hope he has changed, but this tells me he hasn't, and I wouldn't be surprised if our shooters once again suddenly can't shoot and our offense becomes stagnant because it has been crushed under the weight of micromanagement.

I will be pleasantly surprised if 1. during big games we play our way out of tight spots instead of into them, and 2. crush opponents rather than letting up with a lead.

I will also be pleasantly surprised if ...
3. we don't have just a 6 or 7 man rotation,
4. we don't play just freshmen for the majority of the 1st 2/3 of the reg season
5. Cal is gracious towards the fans after being very critical of them when he was mailing it in
6. shooters can still shoot
7. someone on the team doesn't disappear into Cal's doghouse for minor reasons
8. Cal doesn't shout and stamp his feet, then not coach up his non-favorite players when he yanks them for being afraid he's going to yank them out of the game.
9. our players are taught how to play through and to play a zone defense.
10. Cal answers the questions he's asked instead of using canned responses in post-game press conferences.

Maybe KSR will be that object of frustration and that doghouse dweller that allows Cal to be a real coach again. That's what we all hope for, and if that's what it takes to get that from him, we are ALL FOR IT! (EVEN KSR).

That is a fair question, but another fair question is what are you going to say or do if he doesn't win another NC. There is a greater chance of someone wining the billion dollar lottery than Cal wining an NC this season. Why? It isn't likely that the trajectory of Cal's coaching is going to make a sudden change from falling like a rock to rising like a rocket. Will the team perform better? Most likely!! However, performing better than the past 2 years is an extremely low bar to clear. If his recent recruiting success continues, he might be able to pull it off in another 2 or 3 years. Unfortunately, I believe Cal's tank is running on empty and it is likely to get worse.

who do you think the fans (minus Saturday’s debacle) like more Cal or Stoops? And part of that is one is not afraid to answer criticism and is open to the fans. And doesnt take passive aggressive shots. I still like Cal but I’ve NEVER liked that aspect of him.

Pretty soon, Cal wont have anyone to talk to except his own staff and of course, Kyle Tucker.

Can't have it both ways, if you're going to be the top dog, you better have thick skin and have the ability to laugh at yourself. In Cal's case, he has plenty of flaws, his problem is, none of them are his fault in his mind.

Matt has been very good to Cal, even during the 2021 season. If Cal can't handle the little bit of criticism MJ has had, he’s pretty freaking weak.

He doesn’t reach FF this year I’m done with him.

Cal doesn’t need Matt Jones. Cal is known throughout the US and beyond. Matt Jones? Doesn’t move the needle outside Kentucky.
I don’t think that’s the discussion. He’s the coach of Uk basketabll. And refuses to come on the number one UK sports show on the state, which has the largest chunk of reaching the fan base. It’s wrong.

I don't think he has to be perfect to win the title this year. I don't think the odds are as bad as you seem to think, and I'm not very optimistic about our chances (mostly because of Cal and nothing else). We'll know by the time we've played Tennessee a couple times whether we have a real shot at a title.

I'm not gonna say we don't, and I'm not gonna say we do. I do think that, like in 2012, the team will have to play so well that the officiating and Cal can't keep them from losing the game. It's entirely up to this team as to how far they go

Bottom line is Calipari and staff control these types of engagements. Doesn’t matter what the “reporters” want. The guest calls the shots when they have the clout. It’s really that simple. No reason needed.
Sure. And it also makes the “guest” look bad.

As usual it’s a black or white issue. When an opponent of your favorite talk host say they won’t come on “He’s a coward”.

Objectively speaking this does not look good for Cal especially when almost every other coach in the athletic department has gone on to talk to THE FANS. It’s a bad look.

What does Cal gain from going on KSR? He does his own show, the pregames plus national media. In my book all he’d be doing is elevating KSR and they’re kind of a bunch of goofballs. When I’ve listened they’ve admitted to not watching the games and generally have little to offer. He’d be better served doing a livestream on this board than on KSR.

Looks just fine for Cal. Matt's show has turned into a social discussion all about Matt. Glad Cal said no.

How. Objectively speaking. List it out. Your Pr is low with three years of underperformance. You’ve gained a bit back this summer with recruiting and a successful BW game. Why wouldn’t you seize the chance to gain even more of that back by going int eh to sports program in the state?

If the President refused to come on say the nations highest rated newscast, would that look weak and petty? High probability.

Hell the freaking Governor has been on there.

Again. I like Cal. This makes him look vindictive and petty. And that looks good on NOBDY.

Lol. He won’t go on KSR where he’s been slight critiqued. You really think he’d do a stream HERE? In the hornets nest?

Have you ever seen Biden on Fox News? It is the highest rated news program over CNN and MSNBC. He has a standing invitation to appear on Fox. Does that make Biden look petty and vindictive? We all know Biden is weak. Jones is a know it all and I am glad Cal refused.

My biggest concern is that Cal will have destroyed our 3-point shooters' confidence by Xmas. This is important because this team's success is based on its 3-point shooting.

It makes Cal look petty yes. Because Jones has always supported him. He just happened to criticize him. Which I’ve done too. But I still support Cal because he’s the coach of Uk Basksteball. Just as I supported Tubby and even BCG.

If Cal can’t answer a little criticism from a sports show or call ins? That’s pretty damn weak.

Terrible look for Cal. It's the biggest radio show in the state. 9-16 and St Peter's is horseshit and completely unacceptable.
Terrible look for Matt Jones. Let's him know he no longer runs the radio waves in the State. Matt was always playing up to UK to get inside info so he could be the first to announce basketball news and Cal stopped that so Jones started criticizing him on the radio. Karma can be hell sometimes.

“Karma can be hell”

John Calipari would’ve done well to live by that last year with the “bennies” talk and then an early tourney exit.

Wann know why I was so pissed last season? Becaue you don’t get on air waves and say “I like my team. Best practice we’ve had all year. A lion doesn’t listen to the opinion of a lamb” and then go out and lay an egg like that to St Peters. He deserved every ounce of crap he got following that loss. And THEN he ducks his final call in show. WTF. Stoops didn’t do that. Hell. Stoops is in air TONIGHT after probably his worst performance Ever.

THATS why this looks bad for Cal. Why can’t you objectively see that?

I'll start by saying I really like what's happened since the debacle and super excited about the next two seasons. Two final seasons is my limit with Cal to get something done. That said, Cal has always had the thinnest of skin and cannot handle criticism. And that's fairly odd for a top level competitor. He's probably the worst in game coach that's ever spent a lengthy amount of time as a top coach. He knows that, and can't own it. His ego can't handle it. He knows his coaching gets exposed without overwhelming talent. He's darn lucky the national media and the Matt Joneses out there haven't been screaming this to high heavens for years. Matt probably smells blood in the water and is ready to pounce if the next two season fail. To sum up with a paraphrase of one of Cal's favorite quotes, Kentucky can't hide you, Cal.

Shut up. I’ve been objectively fair to him. Hell, I’ve been called quote “Cal nut hugger” many a times here. Go look it up. I’ve supported Cal through thick and thin and have been on both boards supporting our CATS.

The only one with an agenda between the two of us? Is you.
