The UK coach doesn't owe you, me, or anybody else anything except to work his *** off and put the best product possible on the floor. He's paid to coach, not go on a damned radio show with 4 morons who can't tell you what they are watching.

We know he's just butt-hurt, he used to go on KSR every year. And coming off 2 straight years where he has not put the best product on the court, it wouldn't hurt to sit down and talk to the fans, and let them call into the show. Mark Stoops does it after every big loss, and the fans love & respect him for it.

Mark Stoops coaches with zero expectations. This fanbase is happy with 7-5 or 8-4. Not in basketball. So yea, Stoops can beat a few ****** teams a year and some dumbasses start talking about building a statue. And I am no longer a Cal fan, so it pains me to say this... He's a hall of famer and a national championship coach. He has zero reason to want to go on a radio station with some imbeciles to throw him softball questions. KSR built it's show on getting info; nowadays they don't have it and Jones is desperate. Don't blame Cal one bit.

But then You accept mediocrity in football while demanding excellence in basketball, all the while comparing the two coaches in the way they handle local media. Ridiculous. Personally I would much rather have Cal in the gym and on the recruiting trail than on some meaningless radio show.
He's behind both rupp and pitino in my mind. Can still catch rick, but rupp's probably beyond him, barring some unforgettable 5 or 6 yr. run to close out his tenure
That's why people want Cal to go on KSR. It won't be full of softball questions. That's the only entity in this state that will ask him any gard questions. Kyle Tucker and the rest of em run a circle jerk. And that's why Cal still communicates with them.
This whole thread has been "Stoops will, Cal won't". Cal doesn't HAVE to. And he's proven that. Personally, I can't fathom why anybody would defend Matt Jones. His show literally has the word "Sports" in it, yet he rarely (at least when I used to listen) gave meaningful info. There would be the occasional recruiting nugget but that was about it. He doesn't discuss sports because he doesn't know sports. Yet there are a lot of people on here that apparently listen, I assume to see who will win the next food bracket. Makes zero sense, unless you're the type of person who feels important when you call a radio show.
you have no clue what I like or dislike regarding football. Has Stoops done a nice job, yes he has. Has he made mistakes, yes he has. Is he a top flight no coach, no I don't think so. On the other hand, you ccc lovers think he created the sun and the moon & refuse to accept that he has little ability to make in game adjustments, let alone change things to match his players skill set. Over 10 years & he still has no offense against a zone. He has no offense to get open shots when there is a skilled shooter on the team. Lets see if he is smart enough to play Frederick & Reeves together to keep opponents from playing zone. Lets also see if he is smart enough to pull Wheeler when teams allow him open shots that shatter the back board.
And you have no idea how I feel about Cal; but I will tell you now. Great recruiter, average bench coach. Farthest thing from a "CCC".

Poor Matt. He sounded like he wanted to cry this morning on the show, like a little boy who just lost his puppy or a high schooler who just lost his first love. Now the football team is shitting the bed so his new found romance may not matter as much as he had envisioned. All he has left is Ryan Lemond’s stupidity to fall back on.

I think this is more on the right track. MJ has not pulled any punches when it comes to JMI and associates limiting access and making other odd choices in what they control. There's a lot of JMI money in UK/Cal's pocket. Could easily see that as the basis behind this.

I honestly don’t remember anything too bad. The only thing I can recall is the CJ injury thing. Someone at the hospital called Lemond and told him CJ had surgery and he reported it. UK tried to make it into a minor thing. Then when he didn’t play Lemond made reference to it every chance he got.
He has said more than once Stopps is not supposed to come on his show but does it anyway. Now like I said Cal could do the same and I’ll bet there are other issues but I do think this is part of it.
IF he wins number two here that makes him the only other coach besides Rupp with multiple titles at Kentucky. It would by record make him the second best coach. Nobody is touching Rupp man. Only K and Wooden have more. They only person close to Rupp is Williams and he's done.
There are many other stations/ podcasts. You listen because you want to. Period.
What is going on with you people that keep saying "Cal has nothing to gain from going on these shows!!!"? Good lord, guys. That's obviously not the point. Coaches have never really had anything to gain from doing these shows. They don't do it for themselves, never have. They do it because these outlets have an audence that likes to hear from the coach, they do it for the fans. Not themselves. They've never had anything to gain from doing this stuff and that's not why they do it.
