Nor reading thread...just dropping in to assume Ed has about blown a gasket defending his manz?
I think fundraising for EKy is great, but why is it on the AD to promote NIL when the leader in promoting UK is KSR? Matt is uber connected, right? If he is focused on NIL, why isn’t he moving the needle?I personally don't know the in's, out's, and overall rules of NIL, and not sure Matt does either. His argument might be that he doesn't work for the athletic dept. and is already involved in several other ventures (morning show, ESPN gig, pre and postgame shows, helping to run a wrestling promotion, a restaurant, and an event space in Lex) to fully lead that charge. IMO, it's on the AD to explain, promote, and lead the way through these new waters we're in, and Mitch continues to dip his toenail in while telling us what he thinks the law of the land should be.
Louisville's new AD pretty much said they're open for business and would be asking local businesses for money. Their collective, Flyville or something, is hooking up football recruits left and right. If they actually come and play for Satt is another story, but our rivals have gone all in and it feels like Mitch is terrified of some NCAA response that isn't coming.
Why would he waste his time if Mitch is going to fight it? Mitch has been against this from the jump. Stoops and Cal went behind his back to the governor to get it rolling. If NIL fails at UK it’s on Mitch and no one else.Wouldn’t Matt be the person to start a collective or something of that sort? What is he doing besides making money off UK sports? I have not been paying attention. Is he leading that charge?
I don’t know Mitch’s stance and doubt you do. UL and UK athletic departments worked with the KY legislature to create Kentucky’s NIL laws. So, I don’t know how Cal and Stoops went behind Mitch’s back. Why would he waste his time if Mitch is going to fight it? Mitch has been against this from the jump. But the real BS is the university has billions, THEY should pay players. None of us have billions but the average person should put their 5 bucks in the plate as they pass it around? BS. A lot of us have already given six figures to UK in our life through school and tickets and parking and books etc etc. but yet they say we should pay for players.I think fundraising for EKy is great, but why is it on the AD to promote NIL when the leader in promoting UK is KSR? I don’t know if that is even an option. NIL was not intended to result in fans paying players, to my understanding, but in the Wild West that is how it seems to be playing. But the real BS is the university has billions, THEY should pay players. Educate yourself on Mitch then get back with me.I don’t know Mitch’s stance and doubt you do. UL and UK athletic departments worked with the KY legislature to create Kentucky’s NIL laws. So, I don’t know how Cal and Stoops went behind Mitch’s back.
Name one person, however, outside the athletic department (because my understanding is that athletic departments don’t create collectives) who is better situated than Matt to initiate a collective for UK.
Bro, people like KSR because it’s a radio show about UK. They talk about other random stuff too obviously. I lean right but I don’t care enough to get mad over it. Try it out, who cares? There are people I will not be getting back with. Matt Jones sycophants are just some in that group.
Context means everything.Bro, people like KSR because it’s a radio show about UK. They talk about other random stuff too obviously. I lean right but I don’t care enough to get mad over it. Try it out, who cares?
Dude, you are on a wild hair stretch. Calm down. Who said anything about politics, except you?And that means….what? You can’t enjoy a show that doesn’t line up 100% politically with you? I like lots of things that don’t, it’s called life, check it out. 99% of people you see in public couldn’t give one touch about politics.
You are the most pathetic human being in the 28 years I’ve been on the internet. Matt Jones is garbage, but you make him look like a saint.
If he’s right, wouldn’t that mean Matt has talent (if only just a little) and isn’t a hack?Cal should be done with Matt Jones. He’s a no talent hack. But Matt is right to be critical of Cal.
Noted. He seems to have some talent promoting himself. His hackiness is in his general lack of sports knowledge. If he’s right, wouldn’t that mean Matt has talent (if only just a little) and isn’t a hack?

Thing is, if any one of us decided to start a radio show, we would all fail in the minds of so many BBN fans, because none of us could possibly satisfy what every single person likes, doesn't like, or deems important.
But we still have people that hate the guy for some really odd reasons.
Do y'all understand how hard it is to do a radio show based on a college sports program? It’s a daily show, the off seasons are really long and football only plays once a week.
Come Tuesday of the week after a game, what's left to talk about?
Last point. It’s been proven time and time again that when they talk sports, nobody calls the show, but the second he mentions politics, the lines are full, so what is he supposed to do? I hate politics, but at least he makes it somewhat interesting.
I just don't get why UK fans hate a guy that is giving us an informative radio show about UK basketball and football. It’s a real head shaker. I think some of you guys are just jealous. Fix yourself.
Seems like the right guy to lead the NIL collective push for the Cats. I think his show is a bore, but his show is #1 in Ky, he needs to lead and not just cash in.It’s the number one radio show in KY, I’d guess what ever he’s providing people enjoy. So get mad all you want while he collects paychecks and you are just another hater of someone’s success.
Cause of his politics. Or they just don’t like him. I’ll be honest. There’s times I can’t stand Matt. I think he can be a little overzealous with callers. I don’t always like when he gets deep into politics after a game, but it’s rare.Thing is, if any one of us decided to start a radio show, we would all fail in the minds of so many BBN fans, because none of us could possibly satisfy what every single person likes, doesn't like, or deems important.

They have led. Dudes helped raise over a million dollars for tornado relief down here. We will never forgot that. As we come up on the one year anniversary of that God awful day I’m appreciative of what they do.Seems like the right guy to lead the NIL collective push for the Cats. I wish he would start a political podcast or something. I’d listen. I can respect his view because he’s usually pretty respectful. He doesn’t immediately go after a person unless they insult him personally. Which on my kind is fair because if you do that you’re not interested in a discussion, you’re interested in starting a fight. We really need to get past looking at our brother and sister Americans as the enemy. Sure we’re all going to not like each other for various reasons. But just because someone is a dem or a pub doesn’t make them spawn of the devil
Nontheless I can respect Matt. He built KSR from Perry much a love of Uk sports and nothing. That takes a lot of hard work. He’s struggled with anxiety and mental health and has been open about it. I appreciate that because I look at Matt as someone who’s decently successful, And it’s nice to know that someone who’s accomplished what he has and is genuinely well received struggles with that. Helps me with my own anxiety and daily mental health battles.
Overall I appreciate KSR for keeping us connected with UK sports.
Yeah I know what you mean but that’s not his job nor ours. We don’t have multiple billionaires in KY, we just don’t. So the university that has billions needs to pay, not BJW.Seems like the right guy to lead the NIL collective push for the Cats. Pretty much. And no one here has ever said that you must listen or agree with everything he says. Once he did a fan guest host segment where anyone could call in and talk about whatever they like for a full minute. Most callers had nothing but silence after 20 or 30 seconds. The internet makes everyone believe they can do anything. If you're in his place, you also have to be able to take a joke. His friends and callers make fun of his voice, how he used to be chunky/have bangs, his goofy lawyer commercials, etc. Some here when challenged would end up going personal on a caller and calling him a pedo like a psycho and then complain about freedom of speech when their boss wants them to apologize on air. It would also be unwise for a host to immediately begin yelling that a coach must be fired after a couple bad losses. That eliminates most who post on this site.Thing is, if any one of us decided to start a radio show, we would all fail in the minds of so many BBN fans, because none of us could possibly satisfy what every single person likes, doesn't like, or deems important.

There are only 2 things I don't like about the show.
1, I think Ryan needs to go, he’s a clown.
2, Matt talks over everybody. I mean, he'll ask a question and as soon as someone starts to answer, he interjects and talks over them.
As far as politics, I don't know what happened, but it seems like the hate between both sides is at a level I don't recall it ever being at.
I think maybe Trump really woke up both sides. He definitely made some waves, but maybe it started before him and he took it to another level. IDK, I don't follow it that closely.
They are on approximately 440 minutes a week. I’m your opinion how many of those minutes are spent on politics?I don't mind Ryan personally, he is kind of funny and just is who he is.
Matt talks over people all of the time and it is annoying, I agree.
The politics is nuts. Wish it wouldn't be injected always but also agree with philosophy that just because you don't agree with someone you don't have to hate them.
Ryan is fine. Most of the time. But he does have ridiculous takes every now and then and is way too old to act the way he does at times. Like I said, here and there it’s fun. He’s the kind of guy to have a beer and a few laughs with. But he always pushes its it too far at times. Always seems like he’s reliving his college days. Which again is fine here and there. Have a beer, cheer the Caits on and have fun. But know when to dial it back.I don't mind Ryan personally, he is kind of funny and just is who he is.

You'd think a lawyer that clerked at the supreme court could figure that out a bit.I think fundraising for EKy is great, but why is it on the AD to promote NIL when the leader in promoting UK is KSR? Matt is uber connected, right? If he is focused on NIL, why isn’t he moving the needle?

I guess I missed a show where Ryan revealed his split with Amanda. Did they get divorced or something?Ryan is fine. Most of the time. I like he keeps us up to date with some of the political stuff. Especially if it impacts the Commonwealth.
Again, I’d like him to do a political podcast. It would be a good listen.
It's not Matt's responsibility to set it up. If the NCAA is going to let the schools set up (or at least be part of it and support) the collectives, then that is Mitch's responsibility. Matt is right in that Mitch is letting his own personal opinions about NIL affect his approach to it and in the long run it will negatively impact the athletic department. Part of the problem is also JMI. Without the university support, any collective an outside party sets up will fail. You'd think a lawyer that clerked at the supreme court could figure that out a bit.
They are separated and going through a divorce. The divorce could be final but I'm not sure. I believe Amanda has moved to Florida. Nothing was really said about what happened or why. Ryan just said that they had separated. I believe it was fairly amicable though as both Ryan and Amanda were at the Florida football game with Josian to watch Dane.I guess I missed a show where Ryan revealed his split with Amanda. Seems like the next time I tuned in, Matt was talking about Ryan being single. Do you know what happened there?
Wow, that seems out of the blue. And yeah, Ryan is dealing with it pretty well, I would have thought he would be down and out, that’s not easy to go through and it seems like she kept him on the straight and narrow for the most part. They are separated and going through a divorce.
