He actually pulls his hands in and hit an inside pitch to the SS. He can stand there.
That seems suboptimal but he makes up for it with passed balls.
Look, I'm not saying Joe Powell is a great catcher, but he is serviceable. But the coaches must despise Powell to let that clown Johnny Long play over him last year, and now Ross Highfill who hasn't been able to catch a baseball behind the plate since he stepped on campus.

It's a mystery to me. Highfill is allegedly the best athlete on the team yet he can't do the one thing a catcher actually needs to do (catch the DAMN ball)...........
And there is Highfill again completely lost on another at bat. He wasn't close on his two swings, then watched one down the pipe.
