would this be considered the "committing a violation while on probation", or would it just cause the NCAA to extend the probation and possibly give them morepenalties?

since they weren't on probation at the time of these potential violations, i don't think it'd be considered a violation committed while on probation. but it's the ncaa, so it depends on which way the wind blows on the day they make a ruling.

a month but they are paying $6000 - $20,000. I guess it depends on how naive the NCAA wants to be toward these schools. A smaller school like MSU or Ole Miss would have their own NCAA investigation office set up in town over this stuff.

in the SEC.

Auburn and LSU get sanctions probation
Ole Miss sucks it up this year, fires Nutt, starts over with new coach
We win 9 games or more
Plans and dates for the expansion are revealed

Maybe then we take it up a notch on the recruiting trail in LA, and get all the MS studs, and the ones Bama don't want in AL. Because by then, it'll be just us and them in the West.

It's all part of the process**

They aren't going to pay the money to fire Nutt after this year and if Boone is still in the AD chair what good would it do? I think they finally suck it up and get rid of him after this year. Then if Nutt still sucks after next they fire him and get the new AD to make a hire. This is my guess...

Since LSU placed self imposed penalties on themselves last year, essentially starting the 2 yr probation last year. Hence why the NCAA only gave them another year this week. Tigerbait.com editor was on WWL this evening talking with Bobby and Deke and he said as far as DVD's go he believes LSU is clear, but when it comes to Lyles and Lyles' involvement in recruiting visits, could bring about violations "during probation" and some stiff penalties. Lyles seems to be bringing everyone down, and also high school coaches are confirming that Lyles accompanied coaches during recruiting visits (involving LSU coaches). Seems a lot like what happened involving Oregon and Lyles.

If the NCAA gets on top of it's game, the power in the SEC West could make a huge swing in the next 12-18 months.

This is what happened in the late 90s. Auburn, Ole Miss, and Alabama all had mid-90s to late 90s probations to deal with, and LSU was dealing with Gerry Dinardo, and it opened the door for Arkansas and MSU temporarily to varying degrees.

This is why I always say it's best for both of our schools if we stay out of the allegation war and let the other schools, Auburn, Bama, LSU try to tear each other down.

When those schools are competing at a national title caliber level, we can't compete for division titles, just won't happen. When they're tearing each other down, we have our shot.

This is exactly the way AAU cheating works in basketball. You pay an exhorbitant amount of money for recruiting guides/magazines or videos put out by the AAU programs, and it gives you access to their players. In return, you get information that you already had or don't need, but you get a shot at the player to go with it.

It's similar to people getting around scalping laws on E-Bay by offering their tickets with a key chain. That way you're paying $50 for the ticket and $500 for the key chain. In this case, while you may be paying $20,000 for the player and nothing for the magazine/video, you can disguise it by saying you're paying $20,000 for the video/magazine and nothing for the player.

It's the way big time basketball recruiting has operated for ages. Football has just been a little bit behind in the street agent business because football hasn't had the AAU type system in place.
