Considering there was no evidence ever supporting their guilt (minus a coerced confession from a child with mental development issues), it's about damn time. Their lives are going to suck going forward regardless. I don't know how you could assimilate into society after having spent your developing years in a prison.

I can't even imagine what happened to these guys in prison. Being innocent and treated like a child killer by the rest of the inmates. Shudder. They should be given millions.

...and was stunned by the incompetence of the police investigation. Heck, even some of the victims' families have said they thought those kids were railroaded. I hope those guys get a nice settlement and a quiet, normal life after this.

Along the same lines, if you ever see another HBO documentary called "Murder on a Sunday Morning," check it out. Great film - the defense attorney is awesome. Here's a YouTube clip of the film:

I call b.s. too! I think they were guilty. They never had a fair chance in life with the wat they were brought up, but I think they were guilty.

I agree. If you watch the HBO doc you'll see that a huge part of them being labelled devil worshippers was only due to tr fact that they sometimes wore black and listened to Metallica.

Growing up in the South in the 70s and 80s, I don't find that hard to believe. When this thing happened, the national news sources took the Satanic thing and ran with it.

These guys may have been capable of killing the kids because they were obviously bad seeds but the state of Arkansas provided nothing to show that they were even at the scene of the crime. It was a big scare tactic and the prosecutors used big, bad Satan as the evidence to convict them.

dierectly across the street from the courthouse (the trial was moved to Craighead County). I watched the circus surrounding the trial. I have one distinct memory of Echols. During the trial and the sentencing phase, his lawyers had him dressed like the an Ole Miss frat boy. The day he showed up for sentencing he was dressed as "Satanic" (I don't even know what that means but I can't think of a better word) as he possibly could be. He acted like a complete *** walking into the courthouse making derogatory comments to the victims families. I didn't follow the trial closely despite being next door. I moved about a year later and somehow missed the events since. I'm not in a position to have a qualified opinion regarding guilt or innocence. But I know that Echols tried his best to say 17 you to the parents and family of the victims.

Let's assume I'm innocent and I'm on trial for 1st degree murder. Once I find out that I've been convicted based on no hard evidence other than me looking like a freak, I'd probably be bitter and pissed off as well.

So in other words they are white trash, just throw them in jail. Yeah, sounds good.
