fighting in twitter's no different than fighting in the papers back in the day.... it happens. but you're right, it doesn't mean much. heck, even the "wars" on the field don't mean much. parella and sapp were teammates on the raiders and were right next to each other on the line... and last i checked miami and nebraska really didn't like each other in that era (heck, we still don't). bernie kosar just did something for team jack a few weeks ago... and last i checked that orange bowl he was on the other team

it is what it is.

OSU lost at home to MSU last year, and MSU was missing Cook, they also nearly lost to NIU and played in some close games as well. They are not the unbeatable team that some think they are. Now I am not sure we will beat them, but they are a very beatable football team. Some people think because they won the National Title two years ago that Urban is the best coach out there. You have to remember that if it had not been for the newly implemented playoff they would not have even been in the game and some argued they did not even deserve to be in the top 4 with there home loss to an average VT team.
I get that, that's why I said likely and should. Doesn't mean they will. But if they do it won't be a surprise and it won't be something that will cause Coach Dub to have regrets. That's what my point was.

Zach Smith seems like a douche, but I'm not seeing where he fired shots at Coach Williams specifically. Anybody know what "cchs" stands for?

I'm guessing "coaches". agree that Zach Smith seems like a douche.

Edit: he also sounds like Nebraska fan who lives in the past... When the issue at hand is what is happening with WR recruiting currently. Are we doing better with WR recruits than tOSU this year? Don't really know...

I don't see any WRs on their commit list yet. But they do have the #1 recruiting class right now. They are the leader for the #1 WR Trevon Grimes.

Honestly, I would have assumed Smith's tweet about "sales" was directed at Harbaugh and his shenanigans. Especially since they are battling over 5-star WR Donovan Peoples-Jones out of Detroit.

But whatever. I just hope Coach Williams sticks around long enough to actually coach these recruits he's bringing in. He's going to be a wanted man.

That tweet doesn't even make sense. Expose them for what? Negative recruiting? I'd be shocked to find out people negatively recruit.

My take is this. KW is killing it with recruiting his position group, both with commits already and with good standing among some remaining 4 and even 5 stars. This is getting noticed by top receivers and, in turn, others that are also recruiting these top receivers. Maybe some recruit OSU covets (Lindsey?) told Zach how cool he thought KW was. Or maybe Urban told Zach he better step it up or he'll hire KW to replace him. In any case, Zach decided he should go on the offensive. The problem is he doesn't have the persona, the creds, or the twitter savvy of KW and he looks bad.

My guess is that kids like to see this. If they were liking KW before, they probably like him even more now. He'll absolutely use it as indication that we are force to be reckoned with in the near future.

Since his son just transferred in for the next three years and he is one of the highest paid WR coaches in the country, I'd guess he is here at least the next three seasons.

Not long ago Coach Dub posted a twitter picture about questions that a potential player should ask a wideout coach. I'm wondering if someone that is considering both schools took him up on it and embarrassed this fool.

I wouldn't be surprised. There was a OSU recruiting twitter pic that had some words about OSU doesn't rely on drills to make you better, they rely competition. Sounds like direct reference to KW's drills tweet. But then again, I don't follow every WR coach in the nation.

Well... one of their o-coordinators is sure there are no drills to improve ball conrol. So, yeah.... I hope recruits do ask these questions. Another one would be "coach Meyer, what medical issue did you have that went away enough for you to get back into coaching?" I wouldn't want to go there not knowing if he will be around because of his medical situations.

I love the shots at Twitter from the "I would never do that" posters on a chat board.... that have done pretty much the exact same thing

Pfffft. Are any of us 'Tweeting' to a group of 'Followers' and using #hashtag humor? Well, some are.

He was allergic to his locker room being a **** show and having a roster of guys who were good at football but bad at being human beings. ESPN did a great piece on what a disaster it was at UF and how the bottom was about to drop out, so he got the f out of Dodge. See also:Carroll, Peter.

Yes, word I am hearing (well hearing from buckeye fans) is that it would be a shocker if Grimes didn't end up in c-bus. They will have a small class so I don't think they are going after too many WRs. I think Lindsey was the only slot guy they were targeting (again according to buckeye fans). They are really going after the creme of the creme of the crop but they have a couple highly rated and regarded instate guys that they are not really recruiting right now that they probably could snag (at least one of) if they want...so I don't think buckeye fans are too worried about WR recruiting right now...a guy like Lindsey would just be icing on the cake.

(warning: for those not that interested in the dynamics of recruiting between other schools stop reading here)

And fwiw...you seem like someone who follows recruiting in general (not just NU) so I thought you might want to know why assuming it was directed at Harbaugh over DPJ would be a bad assumption. I can understand how you might jump to that conclusion based on Harbaugh but DPJ goes to Cass Tech. Cass is by far the biggest producer of talent in the state of Michigan sending players as far away as LSU and Oregon but sending a steady stream of players to Michigan (the biggest beneficiary), tOSU and MSU. So these kids know the deal at these schools just by talking to their friends (for example, we landed a 4* CB out of Cass last year and our real lead recruiter was former Cass star and AP All-American Jourdan Lewis who happens to be best friends with the recruits older brother who is another former Cass player and our starting FS...you get the picture I'm sure...totally different "sales" job). In addition, the Cass head coach is a former Michigan player. In fact he was a teammate of Harbaugh's.

But probably the biggest reason (if you knew the history) you shouldn't make that assumption is what happened with Mike Weber (who might be tOSU starting TB this year). Weber's recruitment was a back and forth between Michigan and tOSU up to literally the last day. The night before signing day Weber was headed to Michigan (which would have been a flip back as Urban had flipped him prior). Meyer and their RB coach spent the entire night and morning talking with the kid and got him to send in his NLI. 24 hours later the RBs coach left for the NFL. The Cass coach went on local radio and ripped tOSU for the "sales job" they did on his player. After a few days of the coach going off in the media Meyer did invite him down to C-bus and appeared to mend fences but I'm sure the last thing they want to do is to get in a recruiting tactics twitter war with Michigan over a Cass kid...another kid from another school sure...but tOSU has to careful when it comes to Cass.

But he said health reasons. If he was lying, why would parents approve of their kids going there?

That's actually an interesting point...my school hasn't exactly done well going head to head with Meyer on the recruiting trail. But in the few battles we've won one common denominator has been a highly involved parent.

I am not sure why you are here. I can't think of a single poster that likes your condescending ********. Feel free to go back in your hole.

Unfortunately, I could give you only one like. If I want information about "a" OSU, I'll seek it out. Nobody should hold their breath.

Edit: I forgot ellobo is Mich, not OSU. The same applies.

I enjoy the boner that you guys have for freaking out about ellobo just because he's not an NU fan. Is this what guys do when they get too old to drive around with their high school buddies and try to catch kids from the next crappy farm town over trying to cruise for chicks in their crappy farm town and fight them?

"They're OUR cousins, and if anybody is gonna bang 'em, it's gonna be US! Wait...no it wouldn't be...aw screw it, YEAH! IT'S GONNA BE US!"

Thanks for the response. I actually don't follow recruiting that closely, but in response to this thread I decided to look up how Ohio State's WR recruiting was going.

For what it's worth, Smith is now saying his tweets were directed at an SEC school:

There's a simple, crazy, outside the box solution to ending that kind of confusion.

Instead of Smith posting cryptic stuff like a little *****, he could grow a pair, address things directly, and actually provide details such as who he's calling out (still no idea).

Next I'm sure we'll be learning how his account got "hacked"

I'm surprised that Meyer allows a member of his staff to act like a 13 year old girl on Twitter.

Glad to see Zach can conduct himself in a professional manner. I'm sure his performance reviews include comments such as "Makes good use of adolescent Twitter drama" and "Unconvincingly uses slang terms for affect."

If I were him, I would be embarrassed.

Back in the day the period between the Spring Game and the start of fall practice was the doldrums with nothing going on except maybe getting a recruit or two. The current staff knows how to keep us entertained in the off-season.
