Dana babies the quarterbacks too much. Pisses me off. Didn't even give Lateef a chance to go out and win the game. Or he could have made some mistakes and lost it. Oh well, at least we would know what we have, and we lost the game anyway. I don't even know if TJ is any good or not or how he reacts to pressure because the coaches didn't even give him a chance.
How about roll him out, rpo. WTF were we doing

this above.. if DR doesn't get hurt, we have a good shot of coming back and winning

but do we really trust our field goal kicker? I still think we got some issues that need work in the off season on special teams.

LaTeef had some nice plays, but wasn't prepared for being thrown into the fire. That kid has a bright future though.
We were up 8 when he went down after holding the ball too long and fumbling in scoring position again.

First of all, we did not get blown out on national TV and in front of 50 good recruits. So that is a win. Second, I thought for the most part our O line played much better overall. I have not seen the PFF grades yet but the eye test tells me even though we are banged up, this unit came together and became at least average. That is a win. Having to finish the game with a QB that had hardly played any snaps this year, not a win. We shut down their QB, and had we been able to set an edge I think we could have eliminated their big run plays to the outside. Overall, if there is something called a good loss, this probably was it.

At the Half, USC made adjustments. We did not. When USC starting playing more guys close to the line of scrimmage, we could have thrown over the top. Can Dylan throw a long pass? He constantly floats the ball, giving the other team's DB more time to adjust. Why has this not been corrected? Do the coaches not see this issue? Or is Dylan not coachable? Our biggest mistake was not RUNNING THE DAMN BALL after the interception. The run was there ALL NIGHT. Dana just cannot seem to get it through his head that when the run works, use it until it does not work.
Usc kept running the same play and variation of formation at us

this is true, but he was likely our best shot at coming back too.. it's not like QB#2 has gotten many reps this season.. but you're right.. and DR did the same thing before.. He's not my ideal QB, no argument from me there.

What? This is the strangest analysis I have seen of a Husker game. This team had opportunities with Lateef. I don't understand why the coaching staff didn't trust him enough to win the game.
He could barely catch snaps...I think he had three fumbles in a quarter of a half...do you trust him with winging it around if he can't even hold onto the ball? Offense had the ball inside the 30 three times and didn't score. Fumble, missed field goal, turnover on downs. Coaches need a better kicker for sure but our defense cannot sustain after turnovers..much better to pin the other team back and bend but don't break.

So I guess it’s OK to get beat if it wasn’t as bad you though it would be?

We mismanaged this game terribly and missed opportunities left and right. Some things keep occurring every week consistently.

Our WRs cannot get separation and we fired one coach and got “the guy” but it doesn’t seem to work. Did we hit any passes over the middle besides on to our TE?

Our run D is just terrible. We can’t set an edge to save our butts aside from the play where 96 split two defenders toward the end. I am done with Butler. He concerned me coming in to the year and he has confirmed my fears. Lives for the blitz and he gets outsmarted too much with screens.

can we be any worse at clock and time out management? Rhule got the extension so hopefully one day he gets it figured out.

very disappointing loss
So our team is terrible yet we nearly beat a ranked team? Is that good coaching then?

Nah. Defensive front 7 got exposed. Lateef looked like a freshman. I’m actually encouraged by the performance. I thought they would blow us out. A Dylan fumble and a missed field goal were huge plays that killed us. It happens.
Late to the party on this, I wanted to avoid the board as I figured there would be too much doom and gloom, but I agree with this statement. I was pleasantly surprised by our performance, our secondary really showed up, our O-Line played better than expected (however that’s been a very low bar to pass lately), even with injuries. Unfortunately like every other week, our toughest opponent was ourselves, our D gets a turnover we get in good position and then we turn it over. Week in and week out we alway find a way to leave the door open. The front 7, like you said, got exposed and bad, that counter play teams are going to adopt when playing us in the future. I do think MR was too time out happy early in the third which hurt a lot as well… At the end of the day though people have to admit that there is progress being made, we need to protect Dylan better, and we need athletes that can just get open… we have good receivers but somehow the last few years no one gets separation
