A lot of people forget that Lou Holtz tried to make Ron Powlus, a drop back passer, into an option QB and that at the end of his career, he essentially stepped down because he had lost control of South Carolina's program.

I remember his team got into a big brawl with Clemson, and then Holtz decided to decline a bowl invitation because of it. If I was the AD, I would have fired his *** on the spot for that, and then called whatever bowl back and beg them to extend South Carolina another invite. That decision cost USC quite a bit of money.

The only reason he is on there is because he won a NC at Notre Dame, and can play the moron role.

I thought I vaguely remembered Holtz talking about that incident and saying "We weren't going to a bowl because we didn't deserve it after that".

I thought his pretend speach to the LSU team was pretty damn good. Of coarse, he probably has writers and time to prepare. But none the less, pretty damn good......I like how he pointed out that AU rolled up more yardage on UT than UF but UF is suppose to be the super power? That would be great stuff to bring out pregame.

The segament is meant to be what Holtz would say to his football team. I am sure you realize that. So, how can you not understand the pyschology of pointing that out to your team. Your team has heard about UF all year.......the NC last year, all the returning starters on offense......So, it is something to throw out there to point out that UF is no better than anyone else. Therefore, UF is beatable.
