It absolutely was done on purpose. Horrible stick it in your back and twist move by the NCAA committee.
Minnesota and then Michigan State possibly not just a coincidence.

Cayuts with a nice draw. Their fans will be inexplicably pissed about being a #2, but if they wake up on time that will be enough to make it to the Elite 8.

I don’t know. Until Minnesota beat Purdue they were a cinch for the NIT. Like us they’re just happy to be dancing. Possibly saved Little Ricky’s job for another year.
Okay folks ... let’s get the annual statement out of the way here ... the committee ranks the 4 number one seeds and matches them up 1 versus 4 and 2 versus 3. And then every other team gets assigned to a line: 2 through 16.
There is no “S” curve. All that can be said for certain is that Louisville is one of four teams in the 25-28 range, and that Minnesota is in the 37-40 range.
And yes, absolutely, Louisville versus Minnesota is a delicious matchup that I’m certain the committee could not pass up once they saw that UofL was a 7 and Minnesota a 10. Why on earth would you not make that matchup?

This is the right attitude. I was fuming and annoyed by all of this when it was first announced, but if Louisville is a 7 and Minnesota is a 10, folks are right - why wouldn't you match these two up? Richard didn't ask for this and it's not fair to him, but it isn't fair to our coach and players (of which almost none played for Rick) either. Sorry to Richard, it's not personal, but I hope the Cards when by 20+ so this narrative is shut down by 230 on Thursday and everyone moves on.
Hell yes the committee looks at matchups. Nate Oats will likely face his former boss Bobby Hurley in the 2nd round.
All you guys make great points, I will admit I did cringe a little bit when I saw Minnesota and then Michigan State. Then I realized that U of L will only be a little over two hours and change away from Sioux Falls.If/when we beat Minnesota on Thursday I will be able to make the game on Saturday. That would make the first time I have seen the Cards in over 14 years now. I don't know when I will get a better chance than this one. So with that being said Go Cards and I will see you on Saturday ☺

Its not about giving Pitino payback. Its about creating a story line and talking point. Its also why its the 1st game of the tournament. We will have to listen to some rehash the entire thing for 2 hours no matter what. I honestly feel bad for everyone involved. The coaches and players on both sides are going to get asked about this leading up to the game and both Mack and Pitino jr are going to get the questions over and over again. It will be the Ncaa's wet dream to have Pitino show up for this matchup.

MSU is totally not the same team we played earlier in the season they are much more better with Ward back and Langford in the lineup which he wasn't then. I'm just gonna take it 1 game at a time cause we got enough to deal with this week with the Gophers and Pitino crap.
Deener is already saying that a pro Rick faction he knows that has ties to both regimes previous and new. Are going to cause a bit of issues with the Cardinal admin this week because they plan on being behind the Gophers bench. They still write checks to U of L but are loyal to Rick also. This is the crap playing the Gophers is going to cause we are trying to heal things here. And it just seems to be nothing but possible roadblocks.
I know i'm being a bit over the top with it but it is going to be a tense week for Mack.
We played them late November. We just need to shut Mcquaid and Winston down. Ward is back I think too.

By the way, Lunardi has been projecting us to play Minnesota for 3 weeks in a 7 - 10 matchup. He was saying in Jacksonville though which would've meant I could've got some golf in , Des Moines, eh probably not..
