Yup, feels like he’s gonna be out multiple weeks, play a few minutes, and then be out multiple weeks again. I just don’t see him helping much. Just like Butler the last couple months of the year. Butler gave it his all, but couldn’t get healthy with just rest.Sadly Lowe is one hard foul or landing on the floor from being on the injured list again.
This is also my concern. I’m not sure we’ve been given an exact diagnosis on him, but the reports of him getting re-injured at practice mentioned that the shoulder was “popped back in” after it happened or something to that effect, which sounds like a dislocation to me. That kind of injury actually destabilizes the joint and makes it to where it takes less force to happen again than it did in the first place. It can also take months to heal even if you manage to avoid surgery.Sadly Lowe is one hard foul or landing on the floor from being on the injured list again.
I could grow a 10-inch “cucumber“ by Friday as well, extremely unlikely.
If UK went with Jelavic and Williams at the 4 & 5 it should at least pull those Bigs away from the basket and maybe open up a few more offensive rebounds. Of course Jelavic and Williams don't match up well physically with Gonzaga's Bigs. Moreno and Jelavic get UK closer in regard to matching up physically - closer but still not there strength and maturity wise. You would think Garrison should be able to defend either of Gonzaga's Bigs, but I believe that he defends the perimeter better than the interior - and from what's he's shown I'm not sure that he would help on the boards much more than Williams. Any way I look at it, I have to agree with your "worrisome" feeling.Worrisome with Huff and Ike on those boards. Yikes.
Tough matchup for us. You'd have to worry that the screening action alone he'll have to deal with over-and-over throughout each game will be a problem. But maybe they make a large enough shoulder pad to deal with it, I don't know.Only a matter of time till he hurts his shoulder again and has to shut it down the rest of the season...We all know this...I give it two weeks
UK won some games last year after being decimated by injuries that I wouldn't have bet a nickel on. So, anything is possible in a Div. I college basketball game.Tough matchup for us. Anything is possible though
That team last season wasn't the most talented but they played like they had something to prove. This team always seems to look miserable and like something is off with the whole group.UK won some games last year after being decimated by injuries that I wouldn't have bet a nickel on. I think you’re only saying that because we lost. We played with great effort and intensity last game. We stunk on offense and couldn’t grab defensive rebounds but the team did not “look miserable” to me. Not telling you what to think —- be upset about the loss, but you must not be watching the same game as me.That team last season wasn't the most talented but they played like they had something to prove. Sorry but rebounding is all about effort and intensity and I saw none of that in the game.I think you’re only saying that because we lost. We played with great effort and intensity last game. False. There are teams that spend significant amounts of time working on rebounding. Effort is important but let’s put you up against Dennis Rodman in the post and see how many rebounds your effort gets you.Sorry but rebounding is all about effort and intensity and I saw none of that in the game.
I think they're a few players on this team that are disrupting the team. Hopefully the staff can get it ironed out. That team last season wasn't the most talented but they played like they had something to prove. Huh I didn't know Rodman played in that game. North Carolina is actually not a great rebounding team.False. There are teams that spent significant amounts of time working on rebounding. Here’s an AI answer for you:
Intensity and effort are crucial, but
rebounding is a complex blend of mindset, fundamental techniques, anticipation, and physical attributes. While many coaches emphasize that "rebounding is about heart, not height," skill and strategy are essential for consistent success.
No coach worth more than $1 would ever say something as stupid as rebounding is just about effort and intensity. That’s just hogwash.
That was a hypothetical to demonstrate my point. Rebounding is more complex than you said. I’ll bet I can go possession by possession through that game and give you specific reasons why each rebound went the way it did. Everything in basketball isn’t as simple as the cliches “they wanted it more”, “they were more physical”, etc. Go deeper. Again, be upset about the loss —- it’s fair, but what isn’t fair is when you don’t acknowledge what was done correctly and ONLY point out what went wrong.Huh I didn't know Rodman played in that game. North Carolina is actually not a great rebounding team.
Defense was significantly better but giving up that many offensive boards negates all that hardworking.I think you’re only saying that because we lost. I don’t think there’s anyone we could have plugged into the four that would have negated that. We needed Mo for that game. Wilson is an elite rebounder, far superior to Jelavić and even more of a gap compared to Kam. We did the best we could given that matchup.Defense was significantly better but giving up that many offensive boards negates all that hardworking.
Pope has to adjust lineups to offensively play to our strengths. I wouldn't mind some quick action sets to get specific guys open looks. Isolate Jelly in the post to draw fouls on their bigs and set stagger screens off the ball for Chandler, Williams, and Noah. Hopefully, we can see the ball go in early.
Or mine might shrink down to that by thenI could grow a 10-inch “cucumber“ by Friday as well, extremely unlikely.
The season is not already a washWouldn’t matter because the seasons already a wash and he’s just gonna get hurt again he needs surgery he will keep getting hurt until then Lowe is not saving this team and neither is jq
Sorry but rebounding is all about effort and intensity and I saw none of that in the game.
But the difference is North Carolina and UK are pretty evenly matched, flawed teams and yes I feel it was effort that made us get outrebounded. Outside of Wilson their talent level is not better.No. There's clearly some guys that are better rebounders than others and it doesn't have to do with effort.
Effort is "part" of it but not the main thing here.
if this was just an effort thing the Mississippi Valley St of the world would be able to compete with the Kentuckys of the world if they just give it a bit more effort.
Yea we gotta pick which game he plays. I say play him tomorrow night then we should have him back after Christmas possibly. Just pick and choose because he’s going to get reinjured every game. Especially SEC playSadly Lowe is one hard foul or landing on the floor from being on the injured list again.
It's the dead of winter. Of course you wouldn't be able to gro- ohhhhhhhhhhh.I could grow a 10-inch “cucumber“ by Friday as well, extremely unlikely.
Winter makes it harder for that kind of cucumber to grow too, so it still works lolIt's the dead of winter. Of course you wouldn't be able to gro- ohhhhhhhhhhh.
It will be soonThe season is not already a wash![]()
Pope is kicking players in the upper torso in practice. It makes no sense, but some people still might run with it….Honestly, I have no idea what is going on in practice for our guys to be getting injured so easily. Has Lowe or anybody on last years team been prone to injury before getting here? What is it with shoulder injuries? We need to get these guys some flex tape
Agree. Rebounding is effort, and technique. Our team, up to this point, has shown neither.Sorry but rebounding is all about effort and intensity and I saw none of that in the game.
Really? Only effort and technique?Agree. Rebounding is effort, and technique. Our team, up to this point, has shown neither.
