I was wrong about them (ranking be damned). I thought they would be a really good team this season. Something's just not there though. A team that MSU was inches away from beating after committing 4 turnovers is not a great team. LSU-GT would be a good game. LSU-Florida, not so much.
Georgia is also not as good as expected.

is struggling on the OL- thats causing them to struggle...they had to replace 4 starters from last year there and they are coming along slower than expected...but they have a good QB and some weapons at TB and WR- thats overcoming the struggling OL....

Defensively, they are getting better- currently 4th in the SEC....

no Tebow + being at home = possible upset

But you're right about them missing Harvin bad. I'm not so sure that even with Tebow, Florida's not the 2nd best team in the SEC (behind Bama, not LSU). One thing to remember, whether Tebow plays or not, Florida's defense is going to stop LSU cold.

Tebow injury gives UF excuse vs. LSU

The game isn't until Saturday, but I'm already in Florida's corner in case the Gators lose.

Right now no one knows if Tim Tebow will play when the top-ranked Gators visit No. 4 LSU. Recent tests reportedly were "very positive." And you know Tebow. If he can go, he'll go.

But if LSU wins, part of the result will be because Tebow either isn't in the game at all, or isn't back to 100 percent after the brutal hit he absorbed against Kentucky.

Therefore, I wouldn't expect Florida to drop in the polls as far as another team might drop if it lost.

If Florida loses without Tebow, voters surely will recognize that it wasn't the real Florida out there. If Florida loses with Tebow? Obviously, it would depend on his performance, but again, after recovering from post-concussion symptoms, a certain amount of slack will be given to the Gators.

This isn't the same as Sam Bradford going down for Oklahoma against BYU, since the Sooners didn't look that sharp in that game even with him.

Teams often get to the BCS championship game with one loss. But in this case, Florida should have an easier time of it.

When you play a night game in death valley, it does but a different perspective on the game plus they have a coach who has won at least 7 games that he should of lost/won in the last minute (Troy last year, MSU this year, Georgia this year, Florida 2 years ago, Auburn 2 years ago, Alabama 2 years ago,) and there is a probably a few that I can't recall so with all that luck, it could be closer than what is expected.

in embarrassing ways over the years by nobodys..not to mention Florida. If a team comes in there ready to play, and Louisiana State is not ready or not as good, they can get that *** beat. It's an electric atmosphere as long as they take the early lead..that's about it.

they win 80% or more of their night games...I cant help it if the great Nick Saban can't beat UAB

Les Miles has never lost to a lesser opponent at home, and Fla will have their hands full Saturday night- especially if Tebow doesnt play

type of thing out there too much. As a former coach as you state, certainly you know that voodoo ain't got nuthin' to do with winning or losing whether it's night or day...and that "death valley" thing is a voodoo approach.

you even give Dan Mullen a break for inheriting the **** sandwich left him by Croom, why don't you do the same for Saban? He lost to UAB in his first season, working with the turd Dinardo left him. And incidentally, he took that team to 8 wins, and won the SEC the very next year.

Your boy Les inherited a gold mine.

there is a big difference in playing in Tiger Stadium at night in front of 95,000 screaming drunks as opposed to playing in Jonesboro, Arkansas at night against the Indians of Arkansas St....

LSU wins 63% or so of their games during the day in Tiger Stadium- but 80% or more at night....those people believe that they are going to win at night...its like a religion....and that type of conviction is tough to deal with in football- emotion plays a huge part

example of emotion- LSU is not up for us in Starkville- and we go at their D and have a great day, other than the turnovers....LSU gets up for Jawja- and Jawja, who has better offensive players than we do and is just as well-coached, struggles against the same defense...why? Emotion

And emotion is why Fla better have Tebow and bring their A-game

Cow, goddamn man, I almost like you sometimes. You can make some really great posts, and then you say some of the stupidest **** ever.

He won 8 games that first season- yet couldnt beat UAB???? C'mon man. He laid a turd against an inferior opponet. Just like he did to La-Monroe. Just please admit it and lets move on. He 17'ed up. He is a great coach, but Miles has some impressive wins as well, but hasnt had the joke losses Saban has.

Les inherited a great program- and kept it great. LSU is ranked 4th right now, and they arent nearly as good as they will be this time next season. Bama will beat LSU this year probably, but next season is a different story.

were against better competition because they were moved for TV. Look it up. That would explain the stat. It's not surprising that a team would win more at home, especially at LSU where they've been pretty good over the years except for the 1990s.

and we forget about the secret wepon for UF. LSU has Ron Cooper. Brantley would start for any other team in the SEC. If anyone can 17 this game up it is Ron Cooper.

because Charleston Southern, Troy, Tennessee, and Kentucky are such great football teams.

Fla is good on defense, no doubt....if Tebow doesnt play, and probably even if he does, this game is going to come down to the wire

....they both rank higher in offense than LSU.

And LSU even has a game against Torbush to pad the stats.

/I just don't think LSU is good enough offensively to win against UF.

Ciron Black, Lyle Hitt and Joe Barksdale all started last year. It seems like Black and Hitt have been playing down there since Charles Burns was a freshman. They have two new OL starters, both of whom lettered in '08. Time to put down the "they had to replace 4 starters" crap.

Like I posted a couple of weeks ago, I think they have great talent, but they have a problem somewhere. Either it's at QB or HC, I don't know which.

I think scoring defense is the most accurate stat

I did flub the OL thing though, I was thinking Miller and McCoy had started last year, but they were the top back-ups....so they lost 4 of their top 7 on the O-line...should this group get their **** together Sat night, it will be a great game.

this is correct, Barksdale, Hitt, and Black all started last year, so no excuses there.
I don't know why C34 still is on LSU's bandwagon, as far as I'm concerned, MSU was MUCH better than LSU (I don't think that game was a fluke, we're that much better coached than they are).
UF beats LSU regardless, Brantley's probably a top 3 throwing QB in the league along w/ Mallett and Snead.

And I hear you about Saban's two bad losses, but that was in his first year at the program, with another coach's players while trying to change the culture (which he always, always does). Saban is so clearly better than Miles that it's laughable, Bama might win the nat'l title this year.
And quit giving me this LSU beats Bama next year crap. Why? LSU loses Lafell, Scott, K Williams, C Black, Hitt, and 5 starters on defense. It's not like they're getting everyone back like UF did this year. Bama loses almost everyone on D but I guarantee you Saban will have a better defense than LSU, and their offense will be even better next year. Face it, after Saban's players left Miles is steadily on a decline, while Bama is on the way up. Anyone in their right mind wouldn't bet against Bama winning the West 3 or 4 out of every 5 years Saban's there.
LSU's VERY LUCKY to be undefeated, and they'll lose at least 3 games this year.
