Annnnd Lsux lucks into another win simply because Pigott for the gators is eat up with the dumbass!

Lsu tried to hand them the game and they apparently didn't want it.

I would think so.

They have certainly looked less than stellar the last few weeks.

I'm sure they'll be hitting their stride by the time we roll into gainesville.

line drive into LCF- Fla runner on 2nd doesnt tag up....RF'er runs it down and fires it into 2nd- double play to end the inning

Down 1 in the 9th- men on 1st and 3rd- batter hits a flyball to the warning track- Fla runner doesnt tag up because he thinks its gone for a HR

Fla loses- the Number 1 team in the nation is doing these things

you don't get quite as much leeway as you do when you're coming off of 2 straight CWS appearances and a finals appearance last year. You say Cohen's super regional last year proves that the conference record doesn't mean anything. O'Sullivan's record at Florida proves otherwise. He somehow manages to CONSISTENTLY win in the postseason and he does it because his teams are consistently good enough to post good SEC records.

Since 2002- we've had two winning seasons in SEC play. Two.

One of the winning seasons was 2003.

One of those years we went 15-13 because of rainouts, so that season could have gone either way from being 17 wins to being .500.

This has been a problem for way longer than four years. And I guarantee you that Florida didn't put up with seven years of mediocrity to the point where their baseball team had become a dumpster fire.

Florida is struggling right now- they lost to North Florida during midweek in addition to tonight and the series against Ole Miss. I think they'll pick it up more than likely- but based on watching them tonight I just wasn't blown away with what I saw out of them.

But this is how the SEC is now- it's just like football, if not more competitive- there's not that much difference between the bottom of the league and the top of the league. Anyone can beat anybody in the SEC. There's maybe that one bad team- this year it's Alabama- but everyone else is presentable.

That's part of what makes building up that much more difficult for us now than say 1976. It's a much better league- and it's going to get better and better every year.

Like I said earlier in the year- it's harder for us to win the SEC than ever- but it's actually easier for us to win a National Championship because of the competition that we and everyone else in the SEC faces every weekend.

I think we're really close- we're already competing with a young team and a team that is banged up more than any other team in the league. And like I said in the offseason- we should be able to put it all together in 2013 because we will have experience to go along with the talent.

I told a friend the day we rehired Polk that we'd just made a big mistake and we were going to regret it. He just looked at me funny and thought I was crazy. I said just wait.

I definitely don't put anywhere near all the blame on where our baseball program is on Cohen. Polk absolutely killed it before Cohen ever got here. Cohen's doing a fairly decent job so far, but there's a lot of people acting like he's some great coach and so far, he just hasn't shown that. If he doesn't show some real improvement by next year then it'll be time for us to move on to the next coach.

It was a convenient point to talk about how untalented and weak Polk's players were when Cohen first got here, but the two practices I watched, BOTH times Cohen had to step in when 2 of Polk's guys were getting all over 2 of Cohen's guys for not getting in front of grounders and hustling. Polk recruited extremely poorly but Cohen has whiffed on a ton of recruits that people have ignored too.

They know they are the most talented team in college baseball.

Baseball America says they are the best team in college baseball in the last 10 years. They just aren't playing loose. The fact that they couldn't score a guy from third with 0 outs with their 3-4-5 hitters is amazing. Im not sure I have ever seen a dumber play outside of little league, and when I say little league I mean 6-7 year olds.

Its going to be interesting to see how they rally.

Also, LSU is starting to hit. That is a problem for the rest of the country. Their pitching is off the charts good, and the only thing holding them back was their hitting. Well, they are hitting now.

that's really all im asking for. That's directly the coach's fault. As is waving Wes Rea home from 2nd on a single.

They gave Florida basically 5 outs in the 8th inning.

With Gausman going tonight LSU has to feel really good about their chances to take the series.

I think Florida may circle the wagons after this weekend and start playing lights out baseball, because at the end of the day their talent is simply too much to screw up.

point was that many on here go apeshit when we have a baserunner get thrown out for trying to stretch a hit (or any baserunning error), and that it even happens to the best teams in baseball.

Is that if you have one of the best teams in baseball, its not that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things.

I think that is the frustration some are having is that for a team that isn't that talented, they can't make mental mistakes.

At the end of the day, if MSU sweeps Vandy you will .500 in SEC and no one will really care about any of this crap at least for a weekend.

It'd be one thing for it to happen once, but we've had more base runners thrown out than probably the rest of the SEC combined. Maybe the entire country combined. We do dumb **** on the base path just about every game we play. Cohen will say it's "aggressive". It's not aggressive when it hardly ever works. It's stupid. </p>

I like to be aggressive but we are running ourselves out of innings and that needs to stop.

we also are in the top 3 in attempts, I believe, and the two ahead of us have a slightly better %. We've also gone against 3 of the better (if not best) defensive catchers in the league, when it comes to SBs.

USC has a lower percentage, but they've at least had the sense to only attempt a steal less than half as many times as we have. And if we've faced 3 of the top defensive catchers in the league, isn't that even more reason not to try to steal so many bases? I wasn't going to criticize Cohen without knowing the facts, but there's really no excuse for that.

If we've faced 3 of the best defensive catchers in the league, why in the hellare we 4ththe leaguein stolen base attempts? Shouldn't you not try to steal as many bases against the best catchers?

It's kind of hard to judge MSU, LSU, Arkansas & Auburn against the rest of the league because basically all they've done so far is play each other. MSU& LSU have played all 3 of the other schools, and Arkansa & Auburn have played 2 each.
