Brantley Adams and Dylan Favre will be handling scout team duties at quarterback to give the Bulldogs a better look at the threats of Georgia’s Aaron Murray. Adams led the scout team today and Favre will take the controls Wednesday. Adams will get another shot Thursday. Why the constant rotation at scout QB?

“They’re similar players in that way, but Brantley does a good job throwing the football for us too,” Mullen said. “He’s got the size of a big quarterback.”

so when do people start clamoring for Brantley?

The scout team or redshirting QB is always the savior as Em State. We all had we dreams about Tyler Russell. And now that Tyler Russell is actually playing QB for us, its someone else's turn to hold the hope.

Favre was told after this past Saturday that he is going to reshirt barring any injury to both Relf and Russell. Apparently this wasn't a done deal until this week that he was going to redshirt. He got pretty upset about it and Mullen wasn't to happy with how he handled it.

He's saving him to unleash on the world next year! :)

Brantley may never play a down for us, but I also would not be surprised if he got significant playing time one day. In high school he ran and threw the ball very well for Ridgeland. He also got minimal offers because he broke his femur in spring training before his senior year and was told he may not make it back for that season. He fought hard and worked his butt off and make it back by the third or fourth game of the year. He is a great athlete and has a super strong arm. I definitely would not count him out just because he is a walk on.

If anybody ever saw the some of Michael's videos on BDJ from the early fall camp they'll agree with me that I don't think Brantley will ever be seeing the field.

His accuracy was far below anyone else's. Granted he's just a freshman but I'm not expecting much there.

And Favre was upset about a redshirt? Like it was a surprise. Raise your hand if you didn't think that was pretty much a a given this year.

He was told he was redshirting before the Memphis game three weeks ago. He'll probably scout team barring an injury because there are not enough reps for a 3rd team QB and no sense letting him watch all fall.

I understand we don't have the highest rated QB's in the conference....but when is the OL gonna get berated the way these QB's are now ??? A QB is only as good as the line that protects him .... if Russel or Relf had just a little protection I think their performances would be different

Until we get some O-lineman that give our quarterback some time then we are gonna struggle in passing and running. Look at the passes that Russell made when he actually had a few seconds to throw. Dude has some poise in the pocket and a good arm, just does not need an all-American linebacker hitting him in his chin all night long.

I agree with earlier posts that Boobie made our o-line look better than they actually are.....now we are seeing that for sure.

maybe I'm wrong? I got railed on BDJ for saying this, but I just can't see it. I watched him a couple times in practice this year and left going "no way".

I also came back and said that I didn't see Michael Carr contributing either.

The Russell bashing is pretty funny to me for two reasons.

1) People are acting like they're completely disgusted that a redshirt freshman has not been able to take the reigns for MSU and dismantle some of the best defenses in all of NCAA football.
2) Russell has flat out missed some throws this year, but I don't know that Tom Brady would be doing very well with a line that has protected as poorly as ours has this year. They have been extremely disappointing this year, and they apparently can't even block decent pass rushers when they're double teaming. It's pathetic.

I guess I'm apparently going against the grain here, but I've seen a lot to be hopeful about with Russell. He's made some bad reads and poor throws, but he's made a lot of good ones also. He's got a world of potential and with a little more experience and even average pass protection, I think he could end up being an outstanding QB for us.

unless it's as a backup in a blowout win or loss. He could possibly be a great holder for extra points and FGs. If he proves me wrong so be it.

I have watched him play a while and he will become the QB we are looking for. Hopefully the o-line will step up
