That was scott's younger brother. Yeah, I remember his football aspirations came to a quick halt. And just never followed through with wrestling afterwards. A shame because he was a good talent.
He was also a bit of a tweener being 215 pounds.. too big for 197 and not a full sized HWT.. and yeah wrestling b10 hwt is diff level of commitment. You won’t make it doing two sports unless your like Gable athletics freak. Even Iowa’s Kueter, being a top prospect outa hs, can’t do both effectively .

It’s a shame that there aren’t more heavier weights especially at the high school level. The jump from 175>190>215 makes no sense.

Today’s society is forcing sport specificity. Most high school kids 185+ are playing football and many coaches have taken an anti wrestling stance as the sport has become a year round focus and they want their guys putting on weight rather than cutting it.

I think there would be less cutting if there were a few more upper weights not to mention youth football participation has been steadily declining so wrestling offers a great alternative.

FWIW, the wrestling world could easily solve the weight cutting issue, at least at the youth levels, with mat-side weigh-ins. You have 12 year olds hooked up to IV bags or puking in garbage cans at Tulsa and VAC and people act like it’s normal.

The weight cutting at the youth level has gotten crazy. Then as the kids get older their bodies are beat up and they’re always injured.

Kids are being pushed by parents to obtain levels beyond what the body and mind can maintain, hence the frequency of injuries, severe burnout, and physical issues.
