Sometimes less is more, and the percentages don’t tell the entire story. He’s a pg with a career 2.2 assists per game. He has always been the focal point of the offense on his teams which results in inefficient offensive possessions. Ive watched him play a a lot, I don’t care what the numbers say, i think he’s a horrible fit. At both Georgetown and TT from an offensive perspective they were only as good as McClung bc he dominated the ball. Unfortunately he’s an undrafted nba talent instead of an actual NBA talent.
On the positive side, he is a playmaker and can have big games. He is very confident and isn’t afraid to take and create shots. He belongs somewhere that he can have the reigns as THE guy.
As a practical matter though, when did talent evaluation become fully reliant on percentages. There are so many variables that come in to play beyond what someone shoots from 3 (style of play, fit, height, athleticism, defense, etc., etc.). It is weird to me that you and others are being critical of anyone bearish on McClung to Kentucky. I could be wrong, but my assessment of McClung is that he will be more a net negative than a net positive for the cats...and that’s not being entitled; to me it’s settling for a middle of the road talent who thinks he’s a star.
