It's finally here! Conference play starts in earnest this week while there is still a nonconference game. Time to separate the contenders from the pretenders!
Asheville @ North Davidson- The lone non-conference game sees Asheville traveling halfway across the state to face 2-3 North Davidson. Asheville beat them 54-0 last season but this year's game should be a bit closer. Asheville is still the favorite and should smother them wth their tough defense.

Enka @ Erwin- This is a must-win game for both teams already for playoff purposes. Realistically only one of these teams will make the playoffs and it will likely be the winner of this game unless there are major upsets elsewhere. Erwin was down big before coming back to beat Brevard while Enka blew out hapless Rosman. This should be a close game but Erwin has just enough offensive weapons to squeak by at home.

North Buncombe @ Reynolds- Nort much to say about this one except it will be a good chance for Reynolds to get the bad taste of last week out of their mouths and their backups should play extensively.
Reynolds 55
North Buncombe 0
McDowell @ TC Roberson- This is yet another huge game for both teams that has playoff implications. TC has been steadily improving after being blown out by Watauga and McDowell has been playing pretty well beating teams they should beat. McDowell is a little banged up- their starting RB was out last week and may not return anytime soon. The backup is pretty good (ran for over 200 last week) and is probably the best player on the team even though he's only a sophomore. I expect a close game but TC should have too much defense for McDowell to outscore them.
