Gonna be fun watching this unfold now that Saban re-upped for 7.5. People are throwing out names like Harbaugh and Shaw, neither one of them are going anywhere. I think they should throw the bank at Fisher, Malzahn or Chip Kelly, he's doing pretty damn good in the league but he could be missing college for all we know. Could end up being a pretty underwhelming hire considering this is the 'premier' job in the country.

I think if Gus wasn't playing for the national championship this year it would be a chance if they offered. Not going to happen now.

He probably wouldn't be considered if he wasn't in the NC game. And with just one year success as a HC, that probably isn't enough for the TX cigar boys. They have high hopes. Probably unrealistic hope. If they can get off their high horse for a second, they should consider Frankin.

I know they have deep pockets but it would be so much fun to watch the meltdown of UT making a mediocre or head scratching hire

Urban Meyer. He's only making about $4M at OSU last I hear. Saban's almost twice that now. He might consider moving to double his salary. And it's warmer in Austin than it is in Columbus.

Not the only reason. His contract with the Eagles makes him off limits for any college gig for at least another season.

Again, no coach is going to leave a playoff team weeks before they win their division. The last two to leave the NFL for a college gig were captaining teams straight to the #1 pick.

I do think Chip would be a perfect fit for Texas, but it's just not going to happen this off season. Maybe in 3-5 years.

Just don't think the NC is a barrier to them signing Gus if he turns out to be their #1 choice.

I have a feeling they're going to make a Muschamp/Sarkisian type of hire and not a Meyer(sp?)/Saban type of hire.
