And perhaps Stoops miss-spoke. Either way, close enough to not be a prime concern in the pocket.yea that's his roster height, but Stoops said in his post game that he as 6-1, honestly he just doesn't even look that tall to me.

People were saying the same thing about Morgan Newton his first year as a starter.
And look at those qbs towles would be the starter right now on a pretty good teamIt's not so much a knock on SJ himself. I am just critical that in year 4 we didn't have another serviceable QB on the roster besides Barker BEFORE we signed SJ. Johnson is doing the best he can, and we have won the games we should have. It may have been out of everyone's control, but for so many guys to bounce seems odd.
All I know is that the transfer from Cinn that followed Gran and Hen here must not be good. Our coaches thought the best option was to not use a QB over giving him snaps in the second half - ouch
UK football fans should never be chastised IMO. They have suffered through some of the ugliest football ever played for decades. They pour money into the K Fund and UK in general and get little to nothing in return. They travel and support the football team like it has won numerous championships.Folks around the program need to chill TF out with ripping the fans. Christ.
You do realize that 9, 8, heck even 6 or 7 would shut most people up.
Winning cures all ills and Stoops isn't getting it done. These 5 win seasons are for the birds because it keeps the program in limbo with half the fans saying get rid of him and the other half saying give him more time.
When the right coach is hired, it will be obvious by the results on the field and the bitching will stop, until then it is what it is. Try to have a little thicker skin.
I"m with you guys. Where are these people who are dumping on Stephen because I sure haven't heard any of it in my circles eithers. And I agree with yours and the OP's sentiment, he's basically a true freshman and has held up pretty well struggles are expected.Who exactly is ripping this kid? I know and talk to a lot of UK fans and most see him for what he is...a JUCO transfer/backup QB. Nobody is expecting him to set the world on fire and he has been more than serviceable to this point. Hell, he has been one of the best QB's at UK to step on the field since Stoops arrived. He is more a more effective overall leader than anything Towles or Barker showed in their time at the helm. He has a long way to go in order to be a quality SEC QB but he brings a dimension to our offense that makes it tough to defend with the quality backs we already have. He's all we have right now and I am damn glad to have him.
Why is it that only the positive posters need "thicker skin." The negative posters on here don't seem to have any thicker skin than anyone else.

So if they vent and rant some, they've earned the right to do it. You may disagree and that's ok. Let's see what happens if these folks decide to stop giving their money and support.
Was not in reference to anything Stoops said.If this is in reference to Stoops comments, he did not rip the fan base in general, in fact he really didn't rip anyone. What he said was those that post toxic negative comments about the players are not helping the program move forward. So unless you are expressing toxic negative comments towards players his comment doesn't apply to you.
huh, I did not realize that we had five ugly wins.Tennessee has had 5 ugly wins..i dont hear their fans bitchin about them
Maggard knows more football than you will ever know - hell he even knows more than YOU THINK YOU KNOWHe is playing "ok" and doing what is asked. Vandy dropped 3 picks in the first half alone which could have change the entire game had any of those been caught.
Maggard needs to hush in general.
I hate autocorrect...fixed itWhat country did he move from? Perhaps we need to look into more international recruiting?
:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
He is preachin it on Tom Leach show
If we were 5-1 right now everyone would be happy no matter how ugly the wins were.Tennessee has had 5 ugly wins..i dont hear their fans bitchin about them
Louisville would say differently after last year's bowl game.Texas A&M says this is nonsense.
He threw the ball miles better against Clemson than Johnson did vs. Vandy. Johnson has done a decent job stepping into a difficult situation...but his passing was dreadful against VU. He'll have to improve significantly for us to have a chance in the next two games. No he wouldnt...you watch tje Clemson game??? Terrible
Nothing new, it's a culture. Until that changes UK football will never be good.
Freddie Maggard @FredMaggard 4h4 hours agoThese two weeks off will help him immensely. He just needs to get back to playing pitch and catch. His confidence took a hit. But I like the job he is doing and the poise he shows.
Losing to conference USA and Sunbelt schools is also a recipe for negativity. The negativity ain't going away until we start winning.Fact 1
You don't have to be a member to read posts on this board and we know recruits dad's that are one here.
Fact 2
Players are very active on social media and so is the BBN.
Fact 3
Many posters/ readers got twitter
Fact 4
"Some" UK fans have a tendency to have a bourbon or 10.
So, you combine fact 1 and 2 and players are only one click away from what's posted here.
Then some members or readers combine fact 3 and 4 and take what's posted here to twitter and tweets a player.
Both are a recipe for negativity from us the fans towards the players. Remember that every single word that's written here can be found by a quick Google search. After all this is the Internet, so the wise restrains himself a bit with his posts. FWIW.
There was no pick six in Vandy game I believe. Boom Williams fumbled and it was returned for TD.Johnson made some very nice throws in the NMSU game. Yes the competition was inferior, but I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about Johnson's accuracy. He was on the money with several of his throws. So, while not a top QB, I think he does have the ability to fill in for us until Barker is able to play or until someone better shows up. He didn't have much chance in the Alabama game. But against Vandy, while he was pressured some, most of the time the OL gave him time to make throws. He just made awful throws, and after the pick-6 it got into his head. My point is that I think a big part of his problem now is mental and tensing up in passing situations. That caused many of his passes later in the game to be underthrown. But if his confidence could be restored and he is given a pass package with some relatively safe throws, as long as the running game doesn't completely shut down, he should be able to do just enough to keep the chains moving.
No.......I was at the game, then celebrating the win afterwards. Didn't get on the board till the next day. I guess I missed the bashing of SJ from the trolls and armchair QB's.Were you on the board on Saturday?
You are correct. The int. came on the next series I believe. There was no pick six in Vandy game I believe. Boom Williams fumbled and it was returned for TD.
Fair enough. And Yep - that's correct.No.......I was at the game, then celebrating the win afterwards. Didn't get on the board till the next day. I guess I missed the bashing of SJ from the trolls and armchair QB's.
I'm glad Stoops said what he said. I'm glad Jordan Griffin's mother said what she said, and I'm glad Cobb said what he said.
A vast majority of UK Football fans feel that they're entitled to an absolutely amazing football team because of the many years of **** that UK Football has produced, but that same majority feels that they don't need to support the team until that team becomes amazing.
As a result? The fan base is so busy demeaning the players and staff and talking about how amazing they are for "supporting the team in spite of the poor product", while in all actuality, they just heckle the players, watch the games, and repeat.
We don't have a very supportive following, and all of these people calling the fans out on it should be a stark realization of that fact.
Instead of those so-called fans complaining about what Stoops said, or what Griffin's mother said, or what Cobb said, why not adjust themselves and actually support the team.
