from his Wednesday update, on concessions and other stadium improvements pre-season:

"You may know that the university has a new stadium concessionaire. Aramark, which has operated the university’s full-service dining hall meal plan for the past two years, has invested significant dollars into upgrading our current concession stands and added a significant number of portable and mobile kiosks. These auxiliary areas add 'points of sale' locations and streamlined 'behind-the-counter' operations in an effort to shorten wait times for customers. Additionally, the number of in-stadium 'hawkers' will double this year.

As we continue to grow our support and the number of fans coming to Davis Wade Stadium increases, we'll look for more ways to improve the MSU football experience.

The stadium has undergone some customary off-season cleaning and painting, but you will notice that some other areas that have traditionally not been painted have been dressed up. Upper deck portals on the east side, some ramp areas, and inside the stadium itself have all received a new coat of paint.

Stadium banners that were removed for painting – as well as some new exterior banners – are scheduled for installation next week. Wall banner applications have also been added to the recruiting lounge, the club level and some ramp areas, as well as the press box. New flat screen monitors have been added to east side elevator lobbies and televisions grace some concession areas, as well. We have also added speakers in the restrooms and concourse areas to provide radio play-by-play for fans as they move about the stadium or in some way cannot see the game action.

Faux wrought iron fencing has been added around the M-Club building at the south end of the stadium. Cellular South and AT&T are planning to beef up their cellular service in and around the stadium in an effort to improve connectivity for their respective users.

Hand rails on the lower east and west side main grandstands have been added to each section to improve customer care and comfort. Additionally, an in-stadium text messaging system has been added this season. Game personnel will be able to communicate information to customers even before they reach Davis Wade Stadium and fans may provide information to game operations personnel through this system, as well. More information will come."

Hopefully upgrading the restrooms is a part of this overall project. We probably have the worst, nastiest restrooms of all football stadiums in the BCS.

I was visiting with a friend last night who had seen DWS recently and he was ticked off about the color complaining that the new "maroon" and black looked like just like the red and black colors of the Georgia bulldogs. Has anyone seen it and what do you think?

so happy things are being done to improve DWS. Isn't it nice to have some good leadership in the athletic department now? It's nice to have someone who actually cares about what's going on. I keep having to remind myself that Scott isn't the 2nd coming. He's just doing what he's SUPPOSED to do. And I for one think things are only going to get better. Expansion or not, I would say with some renovated restrooms we'd have DWS lightyears ahead of what it has been. This is long overdue, and I'm very happy to see something done about it. So does this mean no more smelly cups?

doubling "hawkers"? Am I reading that wrong by thinking that is security watching for people with whiskey? If so, #@%$......

Hawkers are the people walking through the stands selling drinks, peanuts, ice cream, etc.

I don't even think they were in the student section last year.

Oh.. and AT&T doesn't need to improve their connectivity on gamedays. They simply need to establish some.

Conversely, we might have the fastest moving piss line in the BCS thanks to the dreamer, Larry Templeton.

I piss and put some force in it because I hate the complementary shower that comes with the Templeton trough pissing experience.

Templedick Memorial Pissing River makes me awful glad that me and DawgatAuburn are big daddy enough to have those 100 Level Chairbacks where we get to stand 15 deep at the 4 urinals we have on one end of the stadium before using one of the two sinks to wash our hands. After we come out, we can then wedge ourselves in line with the other 25 people trying to stand between the concession window and the attractive plywood wall Larry constructed behind the seats in front of the concession stand. Half of the 25 are trying to buy food/beverage, while the other half are just trying to get a view of the circa 1990 13 inch television monitor mounted over the concession window in order to glean a score from a CBS game (no ESPN...no cable).

But that's all ok.....because our stadium is adorned with nylon banners. Yay.
