He's ready to cash his NBA check, and honestly I'm ready for him to do it too, if you can't represent my university any better than that ... see ya.
That's what one and dones do for you. They really don't care.

Briscoe

Just don't know what to make of him. he can score triple doubles and, honestly, I'm going to be glad when he's gone. I don't hate him and I'm glad he's getting to play where he wants and all, but it's work watching him and wondering what's going to happen. I'm ready for consistent guards again.

Seems like he cashed in after UNC. Kinda going through the motions now and if he gets hot, he'll just make his own shot. But, if this team can make a run, we'll need him.

Maybe he should have went to Arkansas so we could have gotten a local player that would have won us the game because his heart is filled all the way up with Kentucky pride . All we need is to fill the roster up with those types of players and we'll be on our way .

You should sit him for the first half of the LSU game. Sometimes you got to be hard on someone to get them to learn what your teaching.

If not for monk Kentucky has atleast 3 more losses, I'd ask why is monk not taking 30 shots a game? We run 0 sets for him, like how does that even happen. Flat out embarrassing

Briscoe gets more rebounds because he is in most of the game. Although I like his toughness rebounding, I like it as a point guard. Either way, this team needs to get more gritty. They are not tough enough inside.

I figure his buddy on the Florida team was jaw jacking at him and he was smiling and giving it back to him.

I don't know, I doubt he thought losing was funny. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe he did.

But I'm having a hard time getting worked up over it.
The problem is the camera is up EVERYBODY who is somebody's azzzz now. Do the fans want this young fella to cry over there. Have a big angry face? Put his head down. Act like so many here now that 1. Cal cant coach 2, the team has no heart 3. blah blah blah
Some nites the stars align and the other team plays great and you lose. Good lord. If you are 18 and cannot laugh at some stuff you are probably screwd for life...........

I was there...
this is true.

I think this is an unfair criticism of monk. If anything, the kid has shown himself to be an absolute gamer.
Can't get too worked up about this either...Monk's played his butt off for UK all season long. He's a Freshman and takes some bad shots...but he makes a ton of tough shots as well.

Briscoe has very little value without the ball in his hands. You can basically use his man to guard someone else if he does not have the ball to him. He is no threat to catch and shoot so you have time to rotate over when they do pass the ball. Opponents can use his man to help with Monk, Fox, or Bam depending on where he is in relation to them in a man defense. If opponents are in a 2-3 zone then Briscoe is almost totally ineffective on offense.

Briscoe is a great rebounder for a 6-3 guard, although he only got 3 in 30 minutes last night. The problem with him is he's undersized guarding SF's and he isn't a consistent outside shooting threat which hurts our spacing. His decision making is questionable at times. Physically he reminds me of Joe Crawford from a few years back...he was only 6-4 and played the wing...the difference was he was a deadly 3 point shooter with range.

It's not so much that he's laughing. We've had a lot of great players here and guys that were truly championship caliber players...there's nothing you could have said to a Terrence Jones or an MKG...or Tony Delk or Scott Padgett that could have gotten those guys to smile while their team was getting handled. They were far too pissed off about losing for anything to get that reaction.

I don't think it means much about what type of person Monk is or anything. He seems like a great kid that has his priorities in order. I'm just speaking to this teams chance at making a post season run. We could still turn our play around but the fact that we've got guys playing major minutes that don't seem to be effected by losing is another red flag.

Cal has even alluded to this being a potential issue himself.

Honestly this team has too much AAU culture in them. Zero defense, basically let the other team score just so we can get the ball back and be on offense and race down the court to go 1 on 3. Getting blasted by 20 but it's cool cause we have another game to play. Bad decision making all around. Like dude above me said, you would never ever see MKG smiling on the bench with his team down 20. We're missing a fierce competitor like him on this team

BINGO ! He has to the ball in his hands to get stats .. and that kills monks and foxs chances to be the best they can be , and the best the team can be

This thread has been entertaining at least. I thought I'd get a few to jump on board [roll]
Don't you mean jump on your back? That massive clatter you heard right after you posted this was the sound of several dozen people putting on their blue tinted glasses [winking]

If you can't like Briscoe and understand the role he is being forced to assume then you don't understand basketball. In a football sense it's like taking a wide receiver and forcing him to play linebacker because you don't have any linebackers worth a damn.

The "positionless basketball" pitch is great for getting players whose position is already filled but I'll be happy when the roles are more defined again. Diallo, Vanderbilt, and Washington are a 2, 3, and 4 and they know it. Just hope they can find some offense with that lineup.

May seem extreme, but he clearly does not care one bit about playing for the team. He just wants to make it to draft day and move on. Fine, but let's move on now and put someone in who actually gives a damn. This team is finished either way. I'd rather watch someone who gives everything...
Please come up for a breath.

Usually this kind of stuff just stands out to us. :grimace:

This is totally unacceptable but Cal will probably just shrug it off. I hope he uses it as a so called teachable moment but Cal usually
gives players a long leash. Too long if you ask me. Let's not forget that he blew off the handshake line too. UK doesn't do things this way.
