Still your point is well taken. ASU will be a huge pay cut.

Governor of Arkansas is a huge ASU fan and rumor is that he was instrumental in putting this deal with Malzahn together. Money wasn't motivation. My guess is he just wanted to come back to his home state.

after turning down Vandy. Maybe the big money guys at Auburn weren't happy with the second half of the season and the poor offensive performance.

Involved, right? Why the 17 else would he do that. Did OM give him a serious look?

Just a guess, but the guy is 46, which means he probably has about 20 years in the AR retirement system for state employees. If he gets a 5 year contract for $750K then he will get half of that for the rest of his life at retirement. Just a thought but do the math and I'd leave West GA as well.

Oh I can believe that. There are dozens of examples of guys who are coaching at the highest level of college football who, suddenly, say "ef this, I want to take a gigantic pay cut and go home to coach a second rate program where I'll never achieve anything of substance."

to me Trotter is the best QB on their roster and since they've benched him and played Moseley and Frazier they haven't been the same offensively but that may have been Chizik's decision. </p>

Don't underestimate all the abuse his wife took over that video as having had an impact on this decision. He wouldn't be the first person to put certain priorities like family ahead of his professional motivations.

Like Roof, he was asked to leave. I think his system will work well in the Sunbelt. It's just not well-suited for the speed of the SEC unless you've got freak athletes (see: 2010).
