Arcadia to Clarke County! Moses didn't wander in the desert as long as it's going to take those Eastern Shore boys to get to Berryville. And I bet half of them have never seen mountains in there life. That will surely be a thrill for them.

Sadly, this probably won't be a very competitive game. But I still like 16 teams in the playoffs. It will an experience of a lifetime for these kids from Accomack County. They won't realize it for years, but they are making memories they will share with friends and family for the rest of their life.

There probably be many fans that can make the nearly five hour trip across the bay. I hope you good people from Clarke County will cheer and support not just your team, but your guest as well. Help make those memories extra special by giving encouragement, and applauding there efforts.

Dont know much about arcadia at all. I think it will be closer than people think. In recent years opposing teams speed has hurt clarke. I have been to every playoff game in berryville the last 5 years or so. Speed has been clarkes downfall. This years clarke team to me is the most complete team they have had. If that defense shows up every game they will be in it. I say clarke by 3 scores only.

Check out Lee at Appomattox (5 hours) or Parry McCluer at Hurley (via Beckley, W.Va.)

Unfortunately they have seen the mountains. They were throttled by Riverheads in recent memory in the playoffs.

We always do. Our announcer always reminds the fans that good sportsmanship is key, and our faculty and staff are not afraid to remove folks who do not show good sportsmanship and respect. As a fan in the stands, I'm not afraid to yell at any player who is displaying poor sportsmanship.

Are you ready for some football, cause I sure am!!! C'mon 7:30!!!

You want a drive, things could fall a way that has Clarke hosting Richlands in the semis. That's a 322 mile, 5 hour 6 minute drive. Now that's a trip.

For the love of goodness---no way Clarke should be in the West......c'mon man! Berryville is 5 min from West Virginia and the Pandhandle.

I know----was referring to HR6 comment --My bad for the confusion. Bottom line is regional boundaries have to be somewhat balanced and there are always going to be schools on the fringe.

Just call it Region A and Region B and get rid of any East/West type designation.

But what is the line of demarcation for Region A and Region B? Regardless of what you call it, some 4A teams will still be Region A while their next door neighbors in 2A would still be in Region B. I think VHSL designates them as East and West or North and South based on trying to keep the number of schools even with respect to the enrollment numbers.

Dividing lines can never be the same for different classifications. Way more 5A and 6A schools in northeast than there are 1A and 2A, so why separate state the same. Besides, for 2A teams and fans, what difference does it make what side of line a neighboring 4A school falls.

I was just using it as an example. :)

Granted state is shaped weird, and schools clustered in certain areas, but I think we all will admit VHSL could do a better job with the map, (if we are honest)

Never expected less from the good folks up there. I've got a little Berryville blood in my veins from the Dorsey side.

Why in God's name would they go that way??? If they took any other route than I-81 to Christiansburg--->Rt. 460 to Grundy, no wonder they lost...

Berryville to Ben Hur (Lee High), per mapquest, 6 hrs, 21 minutes. I think the VHSL can read a map just fine on that one.

The shortest route to Hurley from Parry McClure is through Beckley. They got beat because they were dominated by a better team.

Yea, I dont think it would have mattered which way PM got there. Hurley was a much better team and it would have resulted in a loss regardless. Best of luck to you guys vs. Galax.
