with Saban or Crooms- nobody worth a **** is going to sign with Crooms. Hell, Crooms drove a lifelong Bulldog who's father headed up the Tupelo boosters to sign with LSU.

Russell will be decent- but I'm not sure he ever starts a full season for us. Mullen is going to get a QB in here that can play once we start winning this Fall....
Could be wrong but Im prettySaban came in and offered Russell after Croom got fired.Saban then offered and Russell chose playing for his fave school growing up with Mullen over Saban, not Croom. Not that matters because Croomdef sucked as a coach butIm sure afew players with Alabama offers still signed with Croom like Fletcher Cox.

JaMarcus Russell

John Parker Wilson
He never coached Matt Flynn (might have recruited him but he never sawthe field during Sabans tenure)....Flynn was a product of Les Miles moreso than Saban

JaMarcus Russell only played50% of the snapsduring Sabans last year with LSU splitting time with MarcusRandall....but he did recruit him

John Parker Wilson was a Shula recruit but did get coached by Saban......

But Sabans success has come when he has a Managerof the Game at QB nota super talent....See Matt Mauck and McElroy

here it is to remind you:

"how many quarterbacks has Saban coached that went on to play in the NFL?"

So I answered it for you. The number is actually 5 have been in the NFL, but I could only think of 3. You made no mention of who was recruited by whom or how long they played.

Matt Flynn, by the way, played 2 years under Saban. Flynn's first TD pass in college was in mop up duty over- you guessed it- Miss State in 2004.

So to summarize, Saban has had 5 NFL QB's that he has coached. He only stays at schools for 5 years, so its going to be hard for him to coach one through his whole career

in the two offense lines. Relf had much more time than Russell and Relf had a running game. Russell didn't.

Russell will be fine.

But, Relf did look much improved. Here is hoping this is not a one day wonder. Anyone one who saw Relf during the Arkansas game has every reason to question his accuracy. That day without gravity he could not have hit the ground.

I was trying to say that quite often the no. 1 rated QB prospects never live up to that billing in a four year college career. Thus, it is a little early to give up on Russell (a redshirt freshman) who was not as highly rated as guys like Clausen, etc.
