Manchester vs Ocean Lakes Scrimmage

Just read from an O. Lakes' player's Twitter post, Manchester is playing Ocean Lakes @ 5 pm at the VaBeach sportsplex. (Good thing too, the Dolphins field is adjacent to a sewage treatment plant!)

Should be a good test for both teams. I'll assume Matt or Larry R. will likely cover it. I'll try & post my general impressions

That is a really interesting scrimmage on many fronts. Do you best to give us a report if you are going.

#13 for Manchester pick 6 on O Lakes 2nd Offense series. Both teams have moved the ball well.

At the start of the second quarter, OLakes is 2nd & goal on the 2. Then scores up the middle.

Manchester seems to have more speed & a bigger line but O. Lakes' has made the needed plays and stops on D.

Manchester takes over & immediately goes into a hurry up Offense & stays with the run. They easily get to midfield but play is stopped with an O Lakes DL #32 down with what looks like a knee injury.

Penalty put Manchester at the 38. Clark throws but he hasn't been very accurate with the few passes he's had.

Manchester is still driving with the ball on the 5 yd line, 2nd down. On 3rd down, Clark looks right, the scrambled left & threw a short TD.

Manchester 14 O Lakes 7.

On 3rd & 5 for O. Lakes', a DL bats down what looked like a sure 1st down.

Manchester takes over about mid field and begins marching down the field again with they're run game. Clark has his helmet off & is likely done. Their backup QB run in from about the 20. The Dolphins touched him but the refs didn't blow the whistle until he crossed the goal line.

Manchester's running game is impressive.

O. Lakes' is moving with their passes. Their on the 34 of Manchester. 3rd & 2 to go. Another pass to the 25.

4th & 8 yds on 23 for the Dolphins. Time out.. They are going for & tipped pass falls to the ground. Manchester takes over.

Looks like 2nd half & I think both teams are putting in # 2's.

So. I'd call it 21-7 with the last TD a freebie by the refs. The back up QB should have been called dead 10 yds before he crossed the goal line. It think the refs hadn't noticed the QB switch.

Overall impression is that Manchester could run the ball against O. Lakes' with ease. The LB's looked out of place & allowed a lot of 10 yd run plays.

O Lakes was able to move the ball pretty well against Manchester & they had some blown coverages which O. Lakes' wasn't able to capitalize on.

Manchester is going to be successful this year & think they be the favorites in 6B. They will definitely Colonial Forge a battle for sure.

Manchester just kicked a field goal but the backups are.
