I see where our boy is batting 3rd tonight to open the series with Detroit. He's 150 plate appearances into his MLB career, playing on a contending team and consistently contributing everywhere and putting up solid numbers.

I'd say the questions are answered and he's simply a legit major leaguer now. Let the slump begin ...

Btw, totally off the subject, but I saw that Chloe Bibby played 23 minutes and had 12 points in her first game on a WNBA roster. Her Golden State team beat Queen Caitlin and Indiana. Pretty surprising for her to be that involved in her first game as an in season pickup.

I think they’ve got a couple of starters out playing for their national team In A tournament in Europe.

Great job, @Shmuley is going to touch himself to a Mangum thread. Way to confuse a man of the cloth.

It’s amazing how many of his hits are infield singles. Dude just gets it done. Also, the Rays fans love him. I hate that he started in the MLB this late because he’ll have a tough time getting a big contract and will be older by the time he’ll get a shot at one, but really happy he’s made it and has been successful. He is the Rays best all around outfielder at this point, no contest.

Years ago a bench sitter in MLB made a minimum of about a million per year. I'm sure it's way more than that now. Mangum ain't complaining.....he's playing the game he's loved all his life and making money better than pretty much all of us.

It’s $740k until he gets to arbitration. Not saying he’s complaining but I also would like him to get paid at some point

Hitting .314 with only a .735 OPS is wild.

His defense and base running have been fantastic though and really raised his value

Jake’s biggest issue is that he continues to not walk. Hitting .314 but his OBP is only .356 with little power.

If Jake just swung less, he’d be a better player. Hard for guys to change their approach though

If he gets any better, we’ll have to call him President instead of Mayor. Presidents are too polarizing.

Awaiting the crow-eaters...

I, for one, wasn't sure he'd even be given a shot due to the analytics-heavy trajectory of the sport. But, I never thought he didn't have the ability.
Well, you weren't wrong in the overall thought process. It crossed all of our minds. @onewoof is right:

It's facts. Man is producing. Helping win games. Also outstanding in the clubhouse and dugout. Same as we saw at State. Just better competition.
These things help, and there simply aren't many players that are willing to do the little things that he does. The hustling to 1B, etc. All of it adds up to something that matters.

But he had to absolutely hang around and prove himself more than others due to the analytics, and he had to have the ancillary stuff to make up for it.
