(with me being one of the ones taking the biggest gulp) thatCroom didn`t recruit as bad as we thought at the time.

I'm not following how Manny shuts out KS with Texas = Croom was a good recruiter. Croom was an average recruiter. His class average according to Rivals was 41st in the country. That's not counting his first class which wasn't ranked in the top 50 so that number is much worse.

considering the talent that left after last season. At worse - as it stands now - it's the same.

We have a top 20 scoring defense and are about middle of the pack SEC in just about every defensive category. The MSUs of the world dont normally lose 3 defensive players to the NFL and have equivalent success the following year. We have some solid juniors, but we also have some younger guys that are showing some promise, Eulls, Skinner, Smith, Jones etc.

And yes, Wilson does need a raise and quickly. Almost every single kid we recruit always mentions Wilson in the recruiting interviews. We have the potential to close with one hell of good recruiting class on the defensive side of the ball and Wilson is critical to signing some of these guys.

My how our opinions change quick. We were crying the blues for Manny to come back after Memphis & Auburn.

I agree, he deserves a pay raise.

I was one of the knee-jerk reaction types that was not happy with Wilson early. However, now that the final product has started to take shape throughout the course of a season, I amvery pleased with our product on defense.

Wilson has all-SEC players in Cox, Boyd, Banks that help him out a LOT. One lockdown corner can change an entire football game. We are not very deep however, and he's done a great job of managing personnel.
But, when Texas steals away your DC, you know he was good. Diaz is one of the best in the business right now.

and 3 draftees, 2 of which are logging major playing time right now.

Compared to McPhee, Christ White, and KJ Wright? White and Wright are probably the best LB tandem that MSU has ever had. We've had a better LB before (not many though), but we've never had two playing together that were as good as those two.

Manny had McPhee, White, and Wright to go along with a younger Boyd and Cox.

Especially at LB. I think he's about the same as Diaz, just not with the Latin Lover looks. Wilson is solid.

sorry you aren't lockdown status, when you play 12 yards off and 4 of your 5 ints or off deflections of wr hands...

i do agree though that one lockdown corner can change an entire football game, we just don't have one in banks

banks is a good piece and great player for us, but he isn't a lockdown corner
