I don't know how I missed this

I don't know what irks me more - the fact that someone in a position to represent The University gave us the middle finger like that - or that fact that similar folks at MSU would never do this.

But, but, but..Flab, the damn billboard. Yeah, the damn billboard was a message to Bulldog Club members intended to drive Bulldog Club membership & ticket sales. Sure it pissed off Ole Miss fans, but it clearly wasn't addressed to them.

Anyway, I am irked that tit-for-tat smack would never happen at MSU. Hell, we aren't even allowed to insult the opposition's head basketball coach.

The words are hard to read off of such a tiny video screen.

Seriously, tell me again why we were sooooo worried about treating Andy Kennedy with kid gloves.

I remember going over to the Tad Pad during the Final Four year and over the intercom were cow and horse noises, then their cheerleaders came out in overalls and pigtails (pretty hot). I've heard announcers call our player a thug, C. Roundsaville used to get on sports radio (Bill Wahlberg) and make fun of State, Yancy and his backhanded remarks about MSU, etc. I remember a pre-game in '02 on the radio of them telling MSU fans that "tractors are not permitted." Hell, Yancy was on the radio Tuesday night as I was driving through Oxford and they had to throw MSU into that conversation in a negative way. I could literally go on and on, but the point is that they are obsessed with us and we are them (just the facts). But we try to hide it or be more mature. Them, the say 17 it! That billboard was the first thing I've seen from our higher ups ever about UM. I say we just start acting like them all around. If we win this year, let's make our jumbotron say something about the inability to read (Powe) or something. 17 'em!

That was the biggest load of crap ever, to hell with being nice, it might have cost us that game.
We get under AK's skin a little and he doesn't out-coach Stans quite as much and win get a Win...

It's not like our students and fans got drunk, hit a cabbie and couldn't pork their wife...

and you are lying to yourself if you think that billboard wasn't directed at OM fans.

**** like this is what rivalries are about. Just like someone spray painting the "welcome to louisiana" signs with "please set your clocks back three seconds"

Why are you making us look at some ***** with an expression on her face like she just found out her husband is gay? Is she the best pic you could find, or does her picture being here have some hidden, intrinsic value I'm unaware of?

Was it just a coincidence that they put one of those billboards on 55 at the Oxford exit?

Even though it pissed me off to see that thing every time I drove to Oxford this summer and fall, I thought it was pretty clever. I also thought the jumbotron message we put up at the Egg Bowl was clever.

First it was obvious it was a slap back, as if the *** raping in the game wasn't enough.

Second, I thought it exposes how pitiful things have been at UM for so long. That the loss in the Egg Bowl the year before really hurt much more than all the UM fans admitted. As tough as its been to be a MSU fan lately I think its been tougher to be a UM fan. They had a year to be proud of this year and its like the Jewish nation leaving the 40 years in the desert.

We as MSU fans should not care what they think about us if we were to make fun of them. For some God unknown reason, there are a lot of MSU people that think that by taking the "high road" that we will somehow come out better. I call it missed opportunities.

Another rivalry that I'm familiar with, and is considered relatively friendly, is the Cardinals and Cubs. If you go to a Cardinals/Cubs game you will see t-shirts that say things like "I'd rather my sister be a ***** than a Cubs fan". Among other things. And it goes both ways. That's the way it's supposed to be.

If we don't like what they put on the scoreboard after the Egg Bowl, there's only one thing to do as far as I'm concerned- and that's beat their *** on the field.

The ole miss people keep defending this message as being "clever"....while it is a slap in the face and payback, I just dont see it as being very clever. I mean all you did was copy exactly what we had said....it would be like ole miss calling their area in the outfield the Left Field Lounge and thinking that it was a clever name. I just dont get it...good retaliation yes, but clever? NO

That's the only problem with it, very few State fans actually saw it because it was so late in the game.

And yes of course it was a slap back, and I was surprised that we actually did it. It was out of character for our university to not only have the idea but then to do it.

I know it is a back handed comment. But, I want to say thanks to OM for returning the favor. That day proved, once again, how incompetent Sylvester Croom was. Thank you!

As for out of character for OM, I would agree. Usually the back handed stabs at State are much more sophomoric.

If you truly believe this, you are one of the dumbest sumbitches on this, or any, board.

The billboard that is on I-55 South past Byram towards Tylertown wasn't meant to piss off Ole Miss fans. It was "intended to drive Bulldog Club membership."

The one that is about half a mile from Exit 243 - Batesville, you know...the exit that the majority of Ole Miss fans take when going to Oxford, was definitely intended to piss off Ole Miss fans. There is no other reasoning to have put it right there and not somewhere else along I-55.

Lastly, you're just pissed about Ole Miss making fun of your pithy little sign after the ***-whipping that day.

That is all.

/sorry for the rant

Where you there? What game did you attend?

It wasn't shown "so late in the game."

It was on the screen after the final whistle blew.

Look at the screenshot up top. There are 51 seconds still on the clock. It wasn't until the final minutes, but it was up before the game was over.

From the fans, maybe, but the university itself rarely does anything like that, which is what surprised me. For them to organize something like that was unexpected.

there is nothing wrong with the scoreboard. Its a rivalry and they should be able to rub it in our face. They beat the hell out of us.

And surely you don't believe the reason for our billboard was to drive up our number of bulldog club members. It may have been one of the reasons, but another reason was to rub it in their face. It's right outside of oxford.... come on now
