Many things contributed to MSU not getting a bid.

state got hosed. 23 wins, beat tn and took kn to ot in the chp game. if you're a bubble team before that then how does that not get you in. OOC and all, i don't get it.

And it's part of my gripe with AK. If you're a bubble team and you miss out, you're griping about a banner, not a real shot at the national title, and if you did miss out, you have to point the finger at yourself, because you didn't do enough.

In MSU's case, it's why couldn't the team bring the UK effort against other teams that beat them? You're going to have down nights, but you miss out because you aren't consistently good enough, and that applies to us as well. We showed spurts where we looked like we could play with anyone, but we couldn't bring that effort consistently enough.

Schedule Duke.

you missed that game too? it was awesome, we spanked them. jarvis blocked a shot with 0.2 on the clock that would have won it for duke.

To see what people were "most" upset about. It was a combination of all of the choices that have us in the NIT.</p>

mike/mike in the morningtoday he was talking and while i agree at the straight talk. we didn't beat all the teams we "should have", this DOES in some way boil down to not havingthe samefree pass some programs are allowed. how many times does duke get left out of thebig dance in the past 25+ yearswhen they don't even win the ACC? i seem to recall some really mediocre duke teams getting in the tournament and getting an inflated seedingas icing. so... for someonewith that pedigree to telleveryone else they didn't"win" enough games, it comesout a little cross.

It is all about the OOC scheduling. The head of the committee on Mike and Mike this morning made a point to mention they look at the things the teams have control over, which is the OOC sched. It has killed them every time they bubbled out. Another benefit of a tougher OOC is if you mix in some good teams maybe your team wins some of these tough games at the end. Stansbury's MO has always seemed to play as many high school teams as he can to pump up the Wins number. It has hurt us in the past and it did again yesterday. It would be better to go 1-2 against Kansas, Louisville, West Virginia than it would be to go 3-0 against nobodies early in the year.

It is a shame that the team is good enough to play in the tournament (which was proved by this weekend), but the perception is that Stans does not test his team in the part of the schedule he has some control over. You might lose those early tough games, but if the goal is to win a championship you need those tough wins. You can't win if you don't compete.

my point has been that we knew they were oing to suck, and we knew St Bonaventure has avergaed 11 wins a season the last 5 years...

People acting like we just had "bad luck" with our SOS are either ignorant or kidding themselves

won't be at the top anymore because we never beat Arkansas in Bud Walton. Obviously, Arkansas has the resources and should be dominating the West.

True. He is a dick about it, but it doesn't make him less right. There are a lot of weak teams in the field this year, so when you're arguing the bubble, you're arguing one weak team over another.

along with the Big East challenge that we didn't select - along with alabama, lsu, auburn, and arkansas, and ga, and usc.<div>
</div><div>the schedule was more than acceptable on paper at the beginning of the year. NOBODY was talking about it being a crappy schedule before the year started.</div>

D@A, myself, and a couple others have been beating some to death on her about scheduling for years...ask DS or HD6 if you don't think so...hell, D@A will be more than happy to link you some scheduling threads from before the season

Yeah but getting in looks a hell of a lot better to recruits than a NIT final four banner. And those new recruits are the ones that you are counting on to get you to the National Championship level in the future. Not that we'll ever be at that level, but that's not the point. And you don't know if you have a real shot at the title if you don't get a chance to play for it.
