Where are we thinking our most likely destinations are ?

If we are a 8/9 seed?

If we are a 7/10 seed?

Based on current seeding projections on bracket matrix...

8/9 will be in same pod as a 1 seed not named Purdue. So:

Kansas (Des Moines)
Houston (Birmingham)
Alabama (Birmingham)

7/10 will be in same pod as a 2 seed. So:

UCLA (Sacramento)
Texas (Denver or Des Moines)
Baylor (Denver or Des Moines)
Arizona (Denver or Sacramento)

0% chance of Albany for us as a 7/8/9/10 seed

Beat at Minny
Lose NW
Lose game in B1G

Does that smell like somewhere between 38th and 42nd which would be a 10 or 11

What would easiest way to Des Moines be? Looks like flying into KC and driving 3 hours?

I guess you can fly into Des Moines but looks $$$$$$

What if UConn gets a 2? Their metrics are pretty solid.
Sure, then maybe we get lucky as a 7/10 and get put in same pod as them.

Bac and others know better than me, but I think the chances of UConn ending up as a 2 are remote. The Committee didn't even include them in their top 16 reveal the other week.

Denver please. An actual real city that I'd like to visit that has direct flights
At this point I think I'd settle for anywhere other than:
  • Birmingham in a pod with Alabama
  • Des Moines vs anyone as it's impossible to get to
  • Sacramento... Also hard to get to
Denver wouldn't be bad -- likely no real home advantage for anyone either

Ugh I want Albany so bad as I need to be closer to home that first weekend…may be a slight chance I can get out but doubtful depending on day we play

Best we can do is root for a 6 seed (or 11 seed if we falter down the stretch here). Small chance a 3 seed ends up in Albany (which would be in a pod with a 6/11 matchup).

I'm standing by there being zero chance of Albany as a 7/8/9/10 seed.

While none of you seem to want Des Moines, I really, really hope that us our destination as it is only an hour drive from my southern iowa farm and such an easy city to get around. Not sure what the travel issues are as I flew to Des Moines many times each year from NJ for 8 years before we moved here and still fly back once or twice a year.

Cost to fly as opposed to cost to drive or take flight to Atlanta (for Birmingham) or Orlando. Seems like at least 5 locations more desirable.

Very limited flights for a significant number of us to make it. I'm sure it's a cool city but just getting there on short notice will be challenging.

Why do the only have 4/12s & 5/11s at Orlando, why not 7/10s?

I believe I will be attending the Denver games then the Avs game on Monday night.

Drinks are on me if anyone’s around.

Philadelphia to DesMoines is a little over $500 Ty. All flights have one stop with a minimum of 6 hrs total trip one way

If by chance we end up in Denver then make this your place to stay. The Brown Palace. Part of the Marriott properties. Use points if you got 'em.

Eh. I would not recommend staying downtown, but that’s just me.

Plenty of great areas here in Denver. If we get seeded here, I’ll post some recommendations.

If you’re coming with your family (kids) then I’d highly recommend staying in Cherry Creek North which is by far the safest, nicest area in Denver. It’s also super close to Ball Arena.

If people are looking for a younger area with bars and all that then I’ve got you guys on that as well.

It's even worse from San Diego. The time, money, and lack of desire to see des Moines is really a bummer if we end up there

Husker you ever get a chance to play golf at Ballyneal (?) in Holyoke?

I know it’s relatively close to Nebraska and is super highly rated here.

Bars on a budget for me 🤣

Trying to make my NCAA trip on the cheap since I'm planning a trip to Japan in May now

I’ll start putting something together this week just in case.

Denver in general is much cheaper than San Diego from a “going out” perspective.

I lived in SD for 6 years before moving out here and still every time I go to a nice dinner here I’m like “damn that’s not bad at all.” Obviously someone coming from Oklahoma would think differently.
