Selfishly, my son has a tournament that day and I am hoping for a late start. A night game would be great but I don't see that as likely. It's probably a noon game but I guess it will depend on how we do the rest of the way too.

Ask again in 2 weeks. 2 bowl teams might get a better time.

BTN has volleyball on Sat nights in November.
NBC Sat nights are already set I think.
So unless Fox wants the game it’s either 12 or 3:30 on BTN.

Reportedly the big ten programs have wanted the games to be early times as we got later in the season
So, we might not have any later than 3:30 here on out

FS1 is a possibility but I agree - it's overwhelmingly likely that the game will be a noon kick on BTN

There should never be night games, outdoors, up north, at the end of the season... though winter nights do tend to have less wind..
Some of that was because the lack of lightning.

I’m sure many of us can remember the trucks brought in for the late ones back in the day for the B1G.

yeah.. 21-9 midway thru 4th we just try to work clock, not to move the ball. Sure, we win.. but the playing not to lose stuff is so old.

Rutgers Stadium first night game vs Pitt had those light trucks.. when was that.. late 80s?
Sprained my ankle that night at the game (but still went to The Knight Club to celebrate afterwards)! I would guess it was THE biggest turnout in stadium history up to that point (although I honestly can't recall how it was in '76 as the season moved along....I was only 9....anyone??). Both West Side sections and the entire 7 end zone sections were packed with us!

...and it was FOGGY and humid. IIRC Mitter got caught from behind twice, after breaking free, as he was cramping up. @cubuffsdoug forgot it was you with the pick...and getting caught by the QB lol!

I yelled at George Stewart (#56) to block the QB, but he was celebrating the INT. Van Pelt was the last man to beat. He had the angle on me.

That was a humid night. If you watch the video, you will see a ton of substitution on defense, as most of us were cramping. Also, the grass was damp and too long. Guys were slipping everywhere.

Both of George's arms were heavily wrapped, but watch how I tipped-toed as I tried to cut back. That turf was the worst. It's great to look at but horrible to play on.

The funny thing is most schools didn't even have lights because there was little or no demand to move them outside of the traditional 1 pm kick off because the NCAA controlled television up until 1984. The NCAA up until that point wanted very few games on TV because they did not want to hurt ticket sales. When the supreme court ruled that violated anti trust laws more games were available to be televise. In response schools started putting in lights. So often most schools first home night games in the late 80s early 90s.

Maybe the NCAA had a point? Look at what has happened to the game since...

Not that any org should violate the law but doesn't mean they are wrong 100% of the time either.

I agree it would look a lot different had the NCAA gone after an anti trust exemption from congress.

Revisiting this for the last weekend of the regular season. Some game times are known. Here is the B1G slate for that date.

You could argue that Maryland @ RU is the most attractive game without a time slot, especially if Maryland could be playing for bowl eligibility. Maybe there is a shot we get in primetime or at least a late afternoon kick. A night game would be a fun way to close out the season.

Friday 11/24:
Iowa @ Nebraska - 12pm - CBS
Penn State @ Michigan State: 7:30pm - NBC

Saturday 11/25:
Ohio State @ Michigan - 12pm - FOX
Indiana @ Purdue
Maryland @ Rutgers
Northwestern @ Illinois
Wisconsin @ Minnesota

And this is what the last B1G weekend of the season should always look like.

Add in USC vs. UCLA too.

It will once the B1G mandates that USC move their rivalry with ND to the weekend before Thanksgiving moving forward.
