I think we see Luke move up eventually maybe just for 1 year . Desmond might sit a year or 2 but hard to say he's so good. Call me crazy but at 133 folkstyle give me Desmond over Ono right now
Desmond over Ono?!?! Now that’s a crazy take. I know we haven’t seen Ono in folk but Desmond likely isn’t even an AA at 133 or 141 this season. Ono would destroy him from neutral

That's the same Ono who obliterated World Champ and 2x NCAA champ Vito Arujau on feet, right?
Vito ain’t got nothing on Desmond apparently. Desmond has been better than expected but I feel like many on this forum have elevated him to a level that I don’t think he’s at. I don’t think there is any chance he would AA at 133 this year. Ono is the ******* world champion and many thought he was probably the best wrestler in the entire world after that tournament. Thinking he would lose to Desmond seems ludicrous. We really need to see Ono compete again so people can remember just how special he is

Ono might not AA at 133 this year either. Folkstyle wrestling isn't freestyle wrestling 🤷

I imagine the thought is that if Luke or Blaze had a serious injury, that Desmond would be the guy. He could make 125 if he had to,but not ideal. I do not see him wrestling 141 again this year or he would not be allowed to cut back down in that time duration. As for next year Luke will have to go 125 as there is no one else till 27, which then a possibility of 2 or 3 frosh. For 26-27, Ono at 133, and Blaze at 141 or redshirt, with Davis going 141 for his senior year. Desmond most likely waits another year, unless he beats out Davis, which is possible. Just my 2 cents.

It may not get out of the first period. Watch Ono on YouTube. Case closed. And that is not an indictment on Desmond.
Spencer made it the distance with Ono and that was the last time i have seen Ono wrestle.

Are we now comparing Desmond folk to Spencer free? How did Blaze ever beat him out for the 133 spot? Delusions of grandeur!

The comparison is that Ono doesn't go out and tech everyone. Until he wrestles a folk match against an AA level guy, some people are holding there expectations down.

I would think Ono has teched a few guys not named Spencer. And I too am cautious until I see him on top or bottom. I just doubt Desmond is handling him in the room.

Earlier this year, Desmond beat a 3-time age level world gold medalist in folk. He’s young, and the sky is the limit. Ono is a physical freak with extremely (almost singular) high level freestyle technique. Both of them have the right attitude to (continue) to be successful in whichever style they choose. I’m not necessarily ready to pick who wins a full folkstyle match, but I do think that Nate would have to do considerably more than effectively ride Ono to have a chance of winning. I don’t think at this stage, there’s any question who wins the neutral position.

Davino beat Ayala 10-4 at the National Duals, I'm going way out on a limb here and predicting Ayala beats Davino Friday night.

Ayala has been looking pretty good lately and not wrestling on one knee. Not betting my golf clubs though.
Ayala is a 2 time NCAA runner-up so there is little need to point out he is pretty good. I think the match is competitive Friday, but Davino not winning would surprise me.

Call me crazy, I think Iowa has a shot at tO$U tomorrow.

At the National Duals - tO$U won 27-12

125 - Bouzakis pinned Peterson - will he do it again?
133 - I think Ayala can flip his match with Davino
141 - Mendez with a tech or better
157 - Cannon majored Voinovich - with Cannon out Williams should flip that one.
165 - 174 - 184 - Caliendo, Kennedy, and Ferrari all won OT decisions, those 3 have to win again for Iowa to have any chance.
197 If Endene were healthy and still wrestling he would win here, with that said tO$U flips this one that Endene won.
hwt - tO$U got a forfeit - Brands surely will let Keuter wrestle tomorrow, Keuter has beaten Feldman a couple of times.

Call me crazy but if Endene were still wrestling I may have put down a wager, even without him with Cannon out, I think it's close.

Ferrari is out.

So by your own words he cannot "win again for Iowa to have any chance."

You don't have to yell CRAZY, spoken softly has a better effect. Is Angelo's injury physical or mental? Doesn't Brands have a brace to fit him, or a shot of Cortisone?

I didn't yell it. I spelled it.

And Peterson might not even go 125.
And Bailey is out so it'll be easier for Mendez.

Ferrari is walking around with his foot in a boot. I would say that would have to be really really mental, if it were mental at all.

I was looking at the probable lineups for tomorrow and PSU has as many wrestlers from Michigan going as does Michigan.

That Sanderson fella seemed to speak pretty highly of where Ono is right now in folk.
I tend to be cautious too in predicting great things, but I am exited to see Ono whenever it comes.
Let it come, let it come..
It would be a shame if Ono didn’t adjust to folk style like his compatriot Yojiro Uetake a few decades back. That guy was lost on the mat - looked like Myles Martin in a scramble

You do realize that Iowa just lost to Minnesota... right? (Including Gabe, who appeared quite distraught afterwards)
I saw Gabe crying, but he did take McEnelley to SV., he could beat Fishback.

There was another Okie State lightweight Yoshiro Fujita. I watched him at nationals in the 1st round wrestle an unseeded kid from Ohio U I think. I think his name was Fox. Fox broke Fujita's arm and Okie State was never the same after that.

That's how this 78 year old remembers it so it is probably filled with errors.
