My dad actually died when I was a baby, as an adult I now help take care of my mom, most definitely don’t depend on anyone. Again, your generation just thinks they know it all and how it should be

People that always throw it in your face that they have served the country are usually guilty of stolen valor. I respect veterans. But he has no idea what kinds of trials and tribulations the person he’s talking to has been through.

The funniest thing is when folks from Louisville talk down to the rest of us, thinking they are above the rest of us. I got a news flash for them, folks in NY do not separate people from Louisville from the rest of KY, they think all of us are inbred morons.

People in NY like people from Kentucky. That's always been my experience when I'm there. They ask questions and are fascinated by the accent, but I've never been patronized or made fun of when I say I'm from Kentucky.

Honest to God, they're some of the nicest people I've run across, and at different times of my life, I've lived in every area of the country, other than the upper mid-west.

Without a doubt though, the people that are hardest to take are from New England. They look down on EVERYONE that isn't from there, and they think the South is like living on another continent.

It is the most obnoxious acting, insulated, and hard to take group of people I've ever experienced. They generally come across as, well, not that smart...

The best analogy I can think of is; it's like hanging around middle school children in adult bodies.

A close second would be Big Ten sports fans. I realize that's a specific sub-group, and covers a lot of geographic territory, but I'm always amazed at their ignorance, when it comes to what goes on, outside of the Big 10 (11, whatever) They're not obnoxious about it, they just get a 'vacant' look on their face if you try to discuss various college sports topics. Like they're seeing your mouth move but they don't understand the words, and it doesn't bother them that they can't.

It's very much like talking to your pet.

Chiming in only to support Herr Klown and his reference to New Yorkers and Kentuckians generally getting on well

I started meeting my first acquaintances and friends from NY after I joined the Air Force - had a few roommates and close drinking buddies that were NY ppl (some from the city - some from upstate )

I think there was a mild but mutual fascination and curiosity factor - it was kind of like meeting someone from another country and we just always seemed to quickly find humor with each other and late nights off base wherever we were stationed

I think there may be something wrong with New Jersey ppl though .....

These kids were recruited to be student athletes where they all came from different backgrounds and have unique identities. They don’t owe UK fans anything other than to do their best on the basketball court. They are not a monolith and do not have to answer to anyone for how they feel. Which I am sure is much different from you as an 80 year old white ex-AF pilot.

“Taking a knee when the national anthem is played is not class.” Actually it is—it is a silent protest in response to what they FEEL AND BELIEVE is a country in which they have not benefited from the liberties that you seem to feel as an 80 year old white ex-AF pilot from Kentucky. WE (me and you as white people) have no idea what it’s like to be black and pulled over by white cops. We don’t know what it’s like to be profiled bc of the color of our skin. We don’t know what it’s like to look or talk different than those we interact with in full room.

Regardless of the political or economic ideologies of the BLM founders, that doesn’t take away the rights of young black men and women to feel the way they feel. To be part of a movement to get what they believe is to live in a fair society, where they are treated as equals and free from judgment bc of their skin color. Minimizing their opinions bc they say BLM (which you believe is Marxist) is missing the entire point and is continuing to silence those that FEEL differently from you.

I don’t believe you are inherently racist or that you treat black people worse than you treat whites. BUT, saying you don’t see color and All Lives Matter is actually part of the problem. Fact is that racism still exists and black people continue to be arrested at higher rates than whites, serve longer sentences, be less likely to get jobs, and come from much more impoverished situations. It’s important that white people see and understand this divide so that we can strive for a level playing field for all.

Lastly, cal did not do this for recruits, he did it because his players wanted to. We can complain about how horrible he has coached this year, but I believe he understands the impact he has on these kids lives.

I’ll close with, you’re so damn sure you’re rigth and that your opinion is the only opinion. I’d urge you to spend 20-30 minutes to talk and listen to a 20-30 something black man and LISTEN. I thankfully have been in situations where I have had diverse coworkers and friends where I have been able to listen to their concerns and be partners in this. Instead of passing judgment on everyone who you believe is merely a liberal loser, maybe you should try to get to really understand them.

Problem is your feelings/beliefs and your use of half-truths, distortions and outright lies to advance your movement.

No one can trust you.

Honestly, if they kneeled in support of abortion awareness I couldn't care less....and I support abortion rights in instances of rape, incest or mother's health. I wouldn't even consider dropping my fanhood over that. I don't agree but respect their right to promote life. It's overall a positive thing in many ways.
As far as MAGA hats.....those represent hate, violence, Insurection, white supremacy, and racism. When you draw white supremacists by the thousands to your rallies....it's way past time to look in the mirror and ask hard questions like why is that?? Why are they so drawn to Trump? Maybe the "white power" videos he Tweeted?

Two completely different things to take a stand on. It's like comparing taking a stand on equal rights/social justice vs standing up for the KKK.

To those who have watched way too much news it may seem that but I know a lot of folks who wear a Trump hat or MAGA hat and they are none of those things you just said. I have known some of them for my 50 years on this earth and have never witnessed anything out of them that is remotely racist.

The left side doesn't like people of color being judged or profiled based on their skin color all the while they judge a white man wearing a MAGA hat. They assume, based on what CNN, MSNBC, etc has told them, that he is racist, a biggot, a white supremacist, etc. The reality is a majority of people supported Trump because he wasn't like the political establishment on both sides of the fence whether that was Nancy, Biden and Bernie or whether it was Mitch, Cruz or John Thune. They liked the fact he didn't do what he was told to do by Washington elites and that is why the politicians all hated him so much.

On the flip side people on the right judge black people because the media and Hollywood has told us that they are all gang bangers, drug dealers and dangerous. While they do this it creates biases whether consciously or subconsciously that we may not even know we have but they are there. Are there black people who do those things? Sure just like there are white MAGA hat wearers who are white supremacist. The thing is it is a small group so don't lump all of them together.

So my point to all of this is the media manipulates us to hate each other. They want blacks against whites. They want Republicans against Democrats. They want straight people against gay people. So the question becomes why? Why do they not want us to come together?

I agree about socioeconomic class being the real wedge issue. The super wealthy definitely don’t want people to band back together to further their self interest at their expense.

To flip your statement, do you think the powers that be don’t want the kids in Harlan to think he is pretty close to being the same as the black kid in Harlem?

No I don't think they do. They want division among us whether it is black against white, Republican against Democrat, men against women or whatever. If we are all divided it is much easier to control us.

Give some examples of how he makes them look bad

Dude he is always making fun of their slang bringing to light anything that is done that might get him hits on his site or Twitter. He used to make fun of OH Napier several years back just like he does KY Joe now. I mean it's okay to be a fan boy and still realize he is a jerk.

If you’re looking for him saying the n-word for you to be convinced, then you’re wasting your time. What he’s said in different situations is all I need. He literally has described people in 2 similar situations completely opposite. He told all the white trumpers that they were patriots and he loved them. He called BLM a terrorist organization and I don’t ever remember a cop basically being beaten to death by BLM. And NO I’m not saying I was ok with those riots. Destruction of businesses and property is ******** and they used BLM as an excuse to do things like that. But the way he treats them compared to others is right in your face. The clearly white supremacist that were in Virginia including one that drove his car into a crowd of people were called good people. They clearly were white supremacist. They marched with torched lit the same way the KKK did when they used to burn crosses. Not all people who support trump are racist, but all white racist support trump. You can’t convince me there’s a guy out there that hates black people and loves Biden.

Do you not remember the 12 cops shot and 5 killed during BLM protestors in Dallas Texas or the 2 shot in Louisville or do you just have selective memory?

I haven't listened in probably 2 years but you do realize OH Napier was from 8 or 10 years ago and KY Joe has also been on his show for year right? Maybe he has quit making Kentuckians look bad but before I quit following him on Twitter it didn't seem so.

I've listened almost daily since the show started but I can't ever recall him making fun of Eastern Kentuckians in general. He may have poked at individuals that lived in eastern Kentucky but that's not the same thing. OH and Ky Joe ain't The Beatles, they're terrible, they need to be made fun of.

Congratulations on taking care of your Mom. I sincerely mean that. I don't understand why you and others on here, get so riled up when we don't agree with you about Cal. Most of the people who grew up in Kentucky, in my generation, played basketball from the 4th grade on. We learned plays, and basic basketball. Cal does not run any of them. He just recruits what he thinks are the best players, and then tells them to drive. If you watched the game last night, you saw how the game should be played. Alabama shot from outside, which made UK come out and guard them close, to prevent the outside shots. Then Alabama spread the floor, which mad UK leave the middle open. They set picks, and the Alabama player was quicker off the dribble, drove around the pick to the basketball. Without being able to hit from the outside, the "Dribble Drive," as Cal calls it, will not work. They will pack it in under the basket.
My generation has kept America, Free. A lot of my generation and earlier generations of America, have paid a heavy price for your right to free speech and FREEDOM. I hope your generation can keep it.

So you get to pick and choose who it's okay to fun of? I am going to need your number so I can call the next time I see a dude dressed like a woman to see if it's okay to make fun of him. I guess will it depend on if he is "terrible" by your standards?

If you don't realize that when he tweets things to his 100K followers that makes anyone in Kentucky look bad those followers will associate that person with us all? Maybe I am different but if it is going to make my state look bad I wouldn't tweet that stuff, talk about it on my show or put it on my website but then again I am not trying to make a living off of those things. Honestly he has basically turned into Jerry Tipton 2.0 because he will do anything to get more recognition and attention.

This is the truth, and I know from a whole lot of personal experience. I both lived in NY for a number of years and go back to visit.

New Yorkers get a bad rap. They are legit some of the most hospitable people I've met - especially in NYC - where they are used to helping people visiting from all over the world. The last time I was in Manhattan about 1-1/2 years ago, my wife and kids were amazed at how friendly and helpful people were all over the city. Once they heard southern accents they asked questions and were very nice. Just be nice. Be respectful. Usually you will get the same in return.

And yes, most of them are fascinated (or at least interested in) Kentuckians.

I live in Louisville. There were 173 murders in Louisville last year. Most of them were black men and boys under the age of 25. I asked my partner in one of our business, "Why are so many young black men killing each other?" He said, "It is gang related. His brother is a policeman here, and told him there were 26 different gangs in Louisville."

Take a look at who started BLM, they are three women who are avowed Marxists. I believe in ALM, ALL LIVES MATTER.

I didn’t think the conversation was about Cal. But I agree he needs to change the offense. But I will say I don’t think it’s ALWAYS on Cal. Alabama flat out outplayed Kentucky, and that’s on the players too, plus Alabama hit I think 15-17 3s while we made 4, that right there is the game, players have to make their shots and defend better, Cal can’t do that for them. I’ll add that the offense Cal runs also requires a pg who can beat his man off the dribble, which we don’t have, Askew may grow into that next year. But you’re right he needs to change up the offense for THIS team

I totally get what you are saying and agree with just about everything you said. Here's where I break with you though....You are absolutely correct about Trump and his supporters initially. He was not a politician and had a message that was unlike all the other politicians. I get what drew people to him. I voted for him myself.
I never owned a MAGA hat but bought them for my dad. I don't worship or follow any man. I don't ask for autographs as an adult.
But that message over time became more and more borderline racist, divisive, paranoid, and filled with unfounded lies and bizarre conspiracy theories. The idiotic Tweets grew more and more unhinged. The chaos at all levels of government and across all departments is unhealthy and dangerous. It is plain to see for those not drawn to hero worship.
The Trump of today is not the Trump that I or many others was drawn to in the beginning. Unfortunately, many still see him for what he represented or what they thought he represented and not the reality of what he is now. He has crossed over into a place that is dangerous to America and will only lead to more division and violence across America.
It's not about left or right, conservative or liberal. It's not about policy issues. It is about a cult of personality that is no longer abiding by our Constitution or our laws. The hats have become a symbol of this anger and division. People need to wake up to what he is doing to our country.

I really miss the Republican party of Colin Powell, James Baker, Ronald Reagan and Bob Dole. I don't even recognize the Republican party of QANON and Trump. Our country needs a strong Republican party....but not the one we have now.

Thank you! I’m similar in that I actually lean right about most things. But just because I lean right doesn’t mean I have to agree with everything someone does. That’s insanity. The man has done plenty to be criticized and people deflect and excuse all of it, not some but all of it! It’s also frustrating that there are people in the senate that are mirroring his behavior because they feel like it’s the recipe to win and all it’s doing is keeping the Republican Party torn apart. It simply hurts them more and until someone steps up and tries to separate from the Trump loyalists in control now, they’ll be fighting a losing battle. That’s why they lost the senate now as well as the presidency.
