Hold on Weiner said yesterday that McKinney was the only "beast-mode" athlete we had. Are y'all saying Wells is just as good? Surely Weiner knows what he's talking about.

Looking forward to seeing Wells play a lot this year.

Worth noting, however, that exactly one LB at this year's NFL combine ran a sub-4.5 40...Tahj Jones of LSU ran a 4.48 (and wasn't drafted). Seven players ran a sub-4.4 40-yd dash.

Only eight players had a 40-inch vertical as well.

If those numbers are legit then Matt Wells needs to start changing clothes in a phone booth.

Local Jackson sports radio guy.

That guy is from Jackson?

I understand national media taking shortcuts rather than trying to stay knowledgeable about every team in the power 5 conferences, but he's a sports guy in Jackson and he's too lazy to educate himself about the two most popular teams in the most popular sport by far in his market? That takes lazy to a whole new level.

Verified or Media Guide?

6'2" 222 lbs, 4.35 40-yd dash, 40-inch vertical leap

While we've been hearing how fast and athletic Wells is, stats have to be independently verified. I've heard of a lot of guys putting up times, but they can't do it in front of the scouts or during the combine. I wonder if there is some well documented independent numbers or do these fall into the media guide stat type category of validity. My recollection of Wells performance from last year is that he was very athletic and generally very good but got beat by several slot receivers. If his numbers are legit, then hopefully he has the quickness and hips to adjust in pass coverage even better than last year. I'm more concerned with his ability to shed blockers and fill the gaps against the heavy run attacks we'll see from LSU and Alabama.

That should be a 'banable' offense ...

Obviously juicing, right Bruiser?

Bruiser sounds real 'cutesy' while over here ... but he doesn't hold back over on NAFOOM. Only rational post in the thread by a reb was Arloguthrie (Jughead)

They better hope "Court" has some of Balis's leftover roids laying around, or they won't see the same type of 6 month transformations they're used to getting.

When 40-60 pound off-season gains are the norm, you aren't doing it naturally.
That's just the way it is.

That's what I meant. Aaron Morris put on 40-60 pounds in the offseason between 2012 and 2013, but it certainly wasn't muscle weight.

Some of the blow ups they had under Balis were way too obvious. You can't get those just with diet, weights, and supplements, not in that short of a period. They were getting the type of results it usually takes 3-4 years to get, but they would get them in 6-9 months.

I read that

this morning and got a pretty good laugh. There are a number of ridiculous items in there. Firstly, who in the world put on 60lbs over a few weeks? Secondly, what "non-rival" fan keeps up with weight stats of opposing teams (that aren't their rivals, or even if they are)? I couldn't tell you one weight change from the off-season of any player not on MSU, and probably couldn't of most on State's team.

....60lbs in a few weeks, hilarious.

Who put on 60 lbs? I have to know.

Nobody. His post roused my curiosity, so I did a little roster tweaking in excel...

Under Mullen(including transition yr from Croom), the examples of players gaining/losing >20lb in a single year:
- Brandon Hill gained 38 between his TRFR and RSFR years. He's fluctuated up or down 5 lbs ever since.
- Archie Muniz gained 35 between his TRFR and RSFR years. He gained 5 total in the next 3 years.

- Dillon Day gained 35 between his TRFR and RSFR years. He's been within 5 lbs of that weight ever since.
- Corvell Harrison gained 35 between his FR and SO years(he didn't redshirt). He gained 15 the next year before dropping 5 for his SR year.
- Rufus Warren gained 30 between his rsSO and rsJR years with the position change from TE to OL.
- Trevor Stigers gained 30 lbs between his TRFR and RSFR years. He gained 5 more his SO yr and then dropped 15 for his JR year.
- Tobias Smith dropped 28 lbs between his TRFR and RSFR years. He gained 5 lbs the next year and played at that same weight for the next 3 years.
- Sean Ferguson gained 28 between his FR and SO years(he didn't redshirt). He gained 10 total in the final 2 years of his career.
- Shane McCardell gained 27 between his TRFR and RSFR years. He gained 20 more between his RSSO and RSJR years before dropping 5 prior to his 5th year.
- Allen Tolbert gained 25 between his TRFR and RSFR years. He held that exact weight for the next 2 years.

- BJ Hammond gained 25 between his TRFR and RSFR years.
- James Carmon dropped 25 between his JR and SR years as a JUCO transfer(between his first and 2nd years at MSU) with a position change.
- Kaleb Eulls gained 25 between his TRFR and RSFR years. He's gained 15 in the 3 years since.
- Matt Wells gained 25 between his TRFR and RSFR years. He's gained 5 in the 3 years since.
- Thomas Webb gained 25 lbs between his TRJR and RSJR years. He held that same weight his last year.
- Gus Walley gained 21 between his HSFR and RSFR years. He dropped 10 of those lbs this year.

So, Brandon Hill @ 38lbs was the most fluctuation we've seen in a year. That's impressive weight change over 12 months -- although it's a FAR cry from the numbers Bruiser threw out -- and certainly not the "190 lb'er putting on 40lbs in 3 months" that someone alleged.

Seems out of character for Brusier even on Nafoom, maybe he is off his meds*

I don't think he should be banned he behaves himself most of the time and stirs things up without
being too big a douche.
